Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Ok, super many reactions after last night. Some truth, some bollox.
Concrete, what do we need to go to the next level and avoid stuff like last night, on and off the pitch?

every year, the media hypes us up as the "favourites" to win the CL, and every year, the players underperform. no idea how we fix it. more/better players is not the answer imo. that said, we need to start our best XI to give ourselves a chance. pep underestimated lyon.

Were not missing a lot, last night was down to silly sloppy mistakes. Lets be honest we gave them 2 goals and they took them gladly.
If we are missing something its cover / help for Fernandinho. Sorting this has to be the only priority in Jan.

Missing attitude.
It's a common trend with title winners, let alone record breakers. How to keep the same work rate and fight the complacency that comes with honours.
I'm glad this has happened early on because this is everything the players needed to see for themselves. This is what happens when you think you're too good.
Let's see how the lesson goes down from here

For me finishing is a big big issue.
I saw in All or Nothing a moment when Pep was talking with Raheem about a coach, can't remember which one, that told him how to use his foot when finishing.
We created 300 chances and we finish 100. So we need coaches that know how to adress this.

Some perspective.
2 individual errors which can and do happen to every team cost us the win last night.
Another day and we win the game. It’s not often we have played that badly since Pep arrived and it rarely lasts for more than that one game. I fully expect a huge improvement in the next few games and we then just file last night under Could do better, Should do better, Will do better, Have done better

I thought the first goal was a series of errors which very much looked like they could have been caused by complacency. Dinho's pass was uncharacteristically horrible. Walker had the chance to close down his man, but decided to slow down to a trot instead. And Delph obviously had a howler.
To me the whole performance screamed of complacency. Maybe I'm wrong and it was just a glitch, or maybe I'm right and it is the wake-up call the players and the coaching staff needs. I don't want to think that I'm right and that the rot will continue.

Good statistic, I knew Gabi had that, but surprised to see Raheem there. Still, I think finishing is an important issue, we manage to get ourselves in the right position, but we are lacking something.

That's a good call. Was thinking the same yesterday. Not that I don't rate Delph, but we get very one dimensional when Mendy is injured.

Mitigating factors last night , having no pep on the touch line a huge one ! Jesus is a having a terrible time and Gundogan also plus no leader on the pitch last night to grab things by the scruff of the neck . Also I think pep and city underestimated Lyon but this might just be the kick up the arse we need to really kick start our season and get rid of any complacency once and for all that was obviously showing last night .
We will still win the group but we really have to put in a performance in Hoffenheim then win our other two remaining home ties . 12 points will be enough to win this group as the other three teams will all take points off each other .
Not really here
Fuck VAR

We had Big Dave, who, to be fair, was our captain in most of the games last year.

For all his sublime footballing prowess he is no fucking leader ! Without Vinny on the pitch it is something we are badly missing I’m afraid !

We only have 30 odd thousand fanatics that go regardless of the weather....like I did in the 80,s when we were fuckign shit!!!
We will be beaten to death by all and sundry by opposing fans due to our stay away 'fans''......I dont get it...it is embarrassing , dont care what anyone says.

Too much fuckin about from last year.
Sanè and Sterling on the wings causing all sorts of problems last year! Changed this season to accommodate someone else.
Otamendi our best defender last year, dropped.
Pep's too arrogant.
