Da Mystery of Da Number 6

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Da Mystery of Da Number 6

Postby Niall Quinns Discopants » Fri Aug 23, 2019 8:28 am

Right, my son made it to the Academy of the biggest club in this country nyt in the process had to chance his number from 8 (for the obvious reasons) to 6. He wanted a history lesson about City former good players who wore number 6 and it occurred to me that I couldn't really remember manu good players wearing it. Lescott and Horlock yeah. Steve Redmond and Peter Reid wore the number when I was a jos I seem to remember. But am I missing someone?
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I'm horrible at squad numbers. I haven't a clue what numbers our current squad is wearing.
However, I seem to remember that Fernardo and Michael Johnson both wore 6. But I guess neither is the sort of legend you want to teach your kid about.

And congrats to your boy for making the academy. Is it HJK's?

Some very, very good players in there.

I wish malcolm bleeding allison hadn't sold Gary Owen and Peter Barnes.

Best of luck to your lad, NQDP.

If I remember rightly Peter Reid wore the number 4 shirt for us most of the time as a player at City. It was at Everton that he wore the number 6 shirt.

He wore 14, 6, and 4 during the 90/91 season.

Alan Oakes! Right! That's the kind of stuff I was looking for. Michael Johnson.... not so much.

Nooly: HJK, yeah. Early days. We'll see where it goes.

Carl: too much stuff going on elsewhere in life. AND technically this site really needs android upgrade.
