Istanbul - or Porto?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Istanbul - or Porto?

Postby Nick » Wed May 05, 2021 1:23 pm

4000 tickets - currently still there as it stands

I have enough points for FA cup final but not the likes of the big aways - so if anyone does and isn't going please let me know.

Booked flights at 4pm yesterday.

Fingers crossed turkey and UK open up on the 17th.

Western district of İkitelli, where the stadium is, might be on the Asian part. Can't remember to be honest and to lazy to google it,

You might need to be careful getting tickets off others, 2 people in hour office are ST tickets for spurs, the lass has & her Mum had 25+ years and did home and away for over 10 years so when it came to it they qualified easy.

Karl, lives within 1/2 mile of the stadium but only got season ticket when they moved to Wembley, ready for new stadium. He went loads down the years but mainly on his mates dad's ST.

His mates Dad didn't want to go to Madrid so Karl had the ticket off him, but was refused entrance to the stadium because name on ticket didn't match his passport!!!

That was before the world fell apart.

My best mate a scouse twat with more money than sense went out to Kiev after his cousin couldn't sort a ticket for similar reasons, he still went though to enjoy the atmosphere.

He Couldn't get a hotel for under £1600 a night because UEFA corporates had filled all the decent hotels. He got an AirBnB for around £200 and when he turned up the bed was literally made of 12 pallets with the flimsiest of mattresses and a sleeping bag!! have had a new phone so cannot share the photos as Whatsapp dumped my history (my fault)

Back to the lass who went to Madrid couldn't get flights, so ended up flying to Malaga, driving the 5.5 hrs to the game, then got a hotel 1.5 hrs after the game and the 3hrs next day back Malaga.

You're going very deep pockets or be prepared to go on a pilgrimage including plane trains and automobiles!!!

Good Luck

anybody trying to book flights might need to see this

Clubs may be permitted to sell more than their allocation if they organize the travel via official packages. The remaining tickets will be allocated to the local organizing committee, Uefa and national associations, commercial partners, and broadcasters

Cheers mate- Direct flights to Istanbul are still available and cheap. I've never flown direct either but blues all are shitting it until the 17th which is then too late. Christ I thought I was cautious lol I booked before we were through

Re names on tickets I've never got a euro away via my own name and been fine. I did hear that with Madrid though.

I despise this. Already had to do it for the league Cup.

Will be at thr ground Saturday even if it means missing the game and singing through the 90.

Each to their own and I also understand for older lads but 99% of blue mates I have my age are just bad fans these days (I.e have tickets and don't even turn up)

Used to annoy me too when we had STs. Drove 300 miles each way and always turned up. People living in Stockport would leave 10 minutes early whilst we stayed to the end.

And in the 90s we weren't great, to put it kindly

Listen, Istanbul is great to visit, but they have big, big restrictions so this trip will not be a great one. Forget having a City square or a place for fans to gather and debate or have a drink.

Also, there isn't the best context after the mayor of the city is on Erdogan's blacklist.
Fuck it, stay home, they are fifth in the world when it comes to Covid.

All went tits up in 1453 mate. I understand the original stadium is buried under the streets

No idea about it, but the city is beyond fantastic.
Visited between the terrorist attacks in 2016 and refused to take any bus, tram, metro so walked a shitload and avoided the crowded places like Taksim.
Cannot describe it, from food to the cool cultural zones for youths, boat trips on Bosfor and the mix between traditional and new.
Too bad they have so many problems there.

If ut doesn't get moved (which doesn't look like it) uefa will have 20k "fans" plus actually fans.

They need the tourism in Turkey (same with cyprus)

There lockdown ends when our travel is announced.

Yes they have crazy high numbers atm. They still aren't on our red list..

It's once in a life time.

You aren't even gonna have any decent alternative in Manchester... all pubs are full already.

I don't think you will find many places doing a full English Breakfast in Istanbul .

Istanbul doesn't need the tourism from Champions League at all . It is a nice thing to do (host the CL final).

They should make life easier at the moment and take next years CL Final , like they agreed last to last season - no big deal at all.

That way , they can resolve a lot of problems. City can play Chavs at Wembley , Villa Park or even the Swamp ( why not ? Why should it be made easy for Chavs traveling around Landan?).
