January Transfer Window

Postby Mase » Mon Dec 23, 2024 10:30 am

Will we sign anyone? Who do we need?

Won’t say how I know, as it’s not fair to them - however it couldn’t come from a person closer to James, but McAtee has said he hopes Pep will let him go in January. Prepare yourselves for another Rogers/Palmer.

I wouldn't blame him for going, but based on what I've seen with he loans to Sheff U & limited appearances this year I'm not sure it will be as big a loss as what Palmer has turned into. I imagine he'll have a good career at a mid table team over the long term.

Obviously there's a high % chance I'm talking bollocks and with regular games for a none relegation threatened side he may also flourish a la Palmer - but those are the risks that you take.

There were rumours the lad was going to Leeds, they are doing well & will probably get promoted. Would be a good move for the kid, will prosper, if he stops at City Pep will fuck him up, so good luck to him

We didn’t see anything at City to say Palmer would go on to be what he’s become, to be fair.

McAtee has, by all accounts, been rated higher than Palmer throughout their years in the academy.

I guess time will tell.

No surprise is it - who the fuck wants to sit on the bench for months on end ?

I don’t blame any youngster wanting out , they must watch some of these overpaid shit heads and think to themselves ‘ I am much better than this cunt ‘but the manager has his favourites and won’t play them and when he does he expects them to turn into messi in a position that they do not usually fucking play.

It’s fucking sad.

I feel that Palmer always seemed to show something in his little cameos - seemed to pop up with goals most of the time he got on. They're different players though and I agree all the noise coming from the academy has been about McAtee being the next real gem

This Zubimendi guy seems to want to stay at Sociedad so that looks like one of our potential targets gone. Really hope we don’t go for Bruno G at Newcastle. Not our level and another Nunes.

McAtee is another mune but cannot fault him for wanting out but doubt that will be to Leeds. Read another piece by Pep saying he wold play the youngsters this morning. Stop it now mate we're not fucking thick and you are literally taking the piss out of us and them

He’s shit scared of another Palmer happening. It’s all lip service with the kids, comes to the summer and Jan and it’s “they’ll play”. Then doesn’t play them.

McAtee doesn’t support United btw. The family hate United for the way they treated his brother.

Trouble is when he does play the youngsters they get slaughtered.
Look what's happening to Rico, he's getting hammered everywhere. Social media, loads on here. First half dozen games of the season he was brilliant but he's got seasoned experienced pros around him who should be helping him and they're not. Can't wait for Bobb to be back because those 2 link up superbly together.

we better have a great plan in January. We are broken. Mcatee has to be given a run of games.

I think Bruno will come good. He looked like a proper player since he came in the league, while Nunes, I swear I have no idea who saw him. Maybe they got him mixed up with Neves.

I am more worried we are still after Paqueta.

Lewis is being made a scapegoat when he's rhe only fucker showing for the ball in midfield. The older experienced guys are nowhere to be seen. I'd rather see the kids than the shower of shit we've been served up recently. Oreilly must be watching thinking if a DM comes in Jan, I may as well fuck off - and he's right same for McAtee and simpson-p. If they cannot get game time and walker and gundo are playing, I'd fuck off as well. Nunes cannot get a game in midfield but plays at lb in the derby - what the actual fuck? Serious questions around squad management need to be taking place.

He played well when he was on the right and then pep decided to play him everywhere else ( shock horror ) where he was mostly shit - pep making those decisions have made those same players insecure …. and it shows.

The only time Rico should have been moved or replaced is when he was up against a certain type of player on that side , then and only then would it have been justified to move him or replace him.

Not one City fan I know would have said shit if Walker and Gundo had been dropped for 2 youngsters - not one.

At this point, I'd be happy with us getting 40 points and then spending the remainder of the season blooding in kids to see where we stand in July. If we finished 6th, we'd end up in Conference League qualifiers, which, although they're a couple of weeks after the season starts, would just add another 2 extra fixtures to our list. I can't see us finishing top 4 without a miracle at this point, and from a schedule, financial and long-term perspective, it's probably best we just skip a year of European football than end up in one of the lower competitions.

If we're serious about rebuilding we should at least try to sign one or two of the top quality we need. Laporte and Dzeko were January signings weren't they so it can be done.
If we brought in two it would be a good start, but I am not convinced we will.

Re mc atee, fuck sake if he's good enough keep and play the lad, it's not that hard.

Spot on. Sick of hearing how “poor” Rico is when he’s the only one trying and ALWAYS shows for the ball. He’s got bellends around him that have 10 years on him and they’re not showing half the guts he is.

Rico played Rb until Walker was forced back in the first eleven.
Won all the games with Rico playing his natural position at the start of the season, if I am not mistaken.

I’m hoping we get a couple of new faces. If only to freshen up the staleness of the squad. The young boy from Argentina, Echeverri, arrives soon but he is likely to be quite raw and not accustomed to the pace and physicality of the PL. He is only 18 after all.

A midfielder to replace Gundogan would be ideal if a little unlikely. A KDB replacement would be a phenomenal addition but God knows who that is.

A new goalkeeper, preferably a first choice, as I reckon Ederson is going to leave in the summer whether it’s his choice or not

However I rather suspect we won’t get those things and it’ll make the summer window even more challenging
