Dunne is the best defender we've had for maybe 15 years or more IMO.
He's one of the favourites to get POTY for Villa. That would be five POTY awards in 6 years for Dunne if he wins it. Remarkable. I think we as city fans in the last few years have a tendancy to admire the dribbling/step over players and defend them to the hilt, whilst dissing the players who give more and love the club more, which is a shame...
Very few will ever have a bad word said about Ali Bernarbia, even though he was very average in the premier league and was excellent in Div 1. A club legend, some will say.
Yet the same people will say "Richard Dunne, delighted to see the back of him" or "Richard Dunne? Nuff said!"
The way of the world I suppose...
I always have love for those who love the club (they have to be decent players too!), its a mutual thing I suppose and I can't help it. On the flip side, if someone tries to cause disharmony/lack of loyalty towards us, I grow to hate them.
