Good news that Maradona has the sense to start Tevez, really looking forward to watching him play at the world cup.Hope he has a great tournament.

Argentina coach Diego Maradona has confirmed that Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez will be in the first XI for his country’s opening World Cup clash against Nigeria on Saturday.

Argentina are blessed with a wealth of attacking talent, including Barcelona's Lionel Messi, Real Madrid's Gonzalo Higuain and Champions League-winning Inter forward Diego Milito.

But Maradona has revealed he will start with Tevez is likely to get the nod ahead of at least one of those three big hitters.

"Carlitos cannot be left out of the team. He is an idol of the people, more than me and Lionel Messi, so I read," Maradona told TyC Sports.

The former Napoli legend, who is aiming to become only the second man to win the World Cup as both a player and a coach, also brushed off any lingering doubts over the fitness of key player Messi.

He added: “Everything is good with Messi. There are no problems."

Shit time for opening game. Have to tape it.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

good news about Carlos.. if that gives him a bit of an edge getting a starting place then so much the better. He has had a cracking season.. possibly his best for a few years.. he will be in a terrific mood for that and going to the WC he must be hoping to make an impact. The pressure is on though with the competition for places.. so i really hope he finds his feet quick and sticks a few in the net. I really believe there is more to come from Carlito and a good WC would set him up nice.

if he has got the nod then it is down to him.. Nigeria, Korea Rep, Greece.. he should be able to terrorise them..

good luck Carlos

Argentina to win the WC and Tevez for the Golden Boot!

Opening ceremonies worldwide should be capped at 1hour.

Anyone else think New Zealand are going to put in a protest over their flag being incorrectly displayed?
