Cool. Thought he was one of their youngsters, but didn't know at what age he joined.

Agree Douglas. Not sure he is any better than what we have tbh. I trust the judgement of Mancini and Marwood so they must see something and wouldnt be interested on a whim. Still not convinced why Brum would loan him when he can walk in the summer - if he did move I think we'd have to buy him, and I dont think thats what we want here.

i'm not sure why it is we all feel the need to have every signing or potential signing be a world-beater.

Look across the street to the Rags and you'll see plenty of role players who know their role and get a job done impeccably and without contention.

I am not hanging my hat on Larsson and saying he's some magical or missing ingredient, but if he gets some games and puts some crosses into the box and gives us a couple special free kicks and corners during a match then he surely won't do worse than what we've seen so far this season, will he?

cheers

Underwhelming is just the word if this goes through. Also hard to see the logic in it, as he's quite young and his contract is up in the summer. Would it be wise for him to sit on our bench and then try to find a new club as a free agent?

problem with Larsson is that he's a one-trick pony. He as a very good right foot, but that's it. He lacks pace and never takes the fullbacks on. I wouldn't mind having him in the squad (if you could put him on the pitch only for set pieces), but he's no replacement for Ade.

i'll agree with that mate, i've never noticed him. if he's good at crossing that'll do me. if he puts on the shirt you get behind him at the end of the day.

I think the Club didn't even consider anyone outside the Premiership because of the timescale. Also a loan deal doesn't undermine AJ's future at the club. Still in my view this episode should have convinced the club that they can't just rely one wide option. We do need someone of class in for next season.

Larsson Comparison with SWP. Not as pacy. They both work hard. However, he'll retain possession far better than SWP and Larsson will deliver in the final third far better than SWP. He's good at corner kicks and free kicks as well. Doug thinks we're being unfair on SWP because he's always played on the left which he can't do. He can't it's true ( lack of flexibility is another strike against him). Still I've seen him play plenty of times on the right since he came back. It's the same story. Down goes the head, he ploughs into blind alleys and loses possession. When he does get in a good position in the final third his delivery simply isn't good enough. And the times he used to cut in and let fly into the top corner are a distant memory. He wanted us to pay him what £100,000 a week with a long term contract?

Sorry he's not remotely worth it.

Isn't Larsson being talked about as on loan deal or something as replacement for Johnson. He may not be the best player in the world but he delivers mean cross and could hold his own. All things considered, I'd be for it as depth signing on loan.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

We don't yet know if he's a replacement for AJ or a replacement for SWP or even a backup in case another deal falls through either. It could be that more deals, both in & out, will happen before the deadline, when other clubs sign replacements etc.
