Similar to the ignorant view other teams fans have of Barry. Just because he doesn't score a lot or do anything fancy they assume he's crap. Parker like Barry does the dirty work and simple stuff exceptionally well.
What a fucking arrogant view. You think you are the only one who understand what defensive/holding midfielder does?
You know what, I played in that very same position for about a decade in very decent youth level, being inches away from getting U17 national side back in the day. Now I'm not saying I was some fucking Patrick Vieira but I DO think I have basic understanding of the demands of that position.
So fuck your stupid media recycling comments of "people don't understand what he does for the team". Football isn't complicated game really and I'm sure most people who who follow football regularily, which you would assume is the case with most people here, do understand what Gareth Barry and Scott Parker are supposed to do to their respective teams. I must've seen Scott Parker play close to 100 times in his career. I've seen him live for Charlton, Newcastle and West Ham. And I'm saying he is slitghly above average Premier League defensive midfielder. That is my OPINION. You might disagree with that, it's a game of opinions, but there's nothing ignorant about my OPINION.
I wasn't referring to you personally.
What I'm saying is a lot of my non City friends tend to think Barry is a bit shit. It's only really City fans mainly who really rate him because we watch him week in week out. He's not a spectacular player who scores great goals or defence splitting passes consistently and therefore you're not gonna watch a few games of him and think 'what a brilliant player'.
Parker likewise does that for Spurs, and just look how much they have improved since he's been in the team.
And that's a load of horse-shit as well. I don't know who you are talking to but the majority of the people I talk to know that Barry is a quality player and it's more our fans who have held the opinion that he is slow and clumbersome, but still a good player.
Did the Villa fans want to see the back of him? Didn't the Dippers get pissed off when he changed allegiances?
I just wonder if these fans you talk to adorne themselves in red?
To be fair to BRF, a lot of my (non rag supporting) mates don't rate Barry as well.
