Not great. I said after the Cardiff game that if Vinnie missed 6 games this season we could forget winning the league and if it was 10 we could be nail biting about 4th. Nothing against Hull made me feel any more confident.

Hopefully Richards will be fit for Stoke otherwise Lescott and Nastasic need to work it out very quickly. May be time to play a proper defensive midfielder in front of the back four to give protection - anyone got Everton's number?

Bayern away is December 10. Will make the home game tough but if u wanna be the best you gotta beat the best

As much as I love the captain it could be time to scrap all of our center halves and bring in two proven, quality signings. Lescott is too shaky, Garcia sucks at CB, Demichelis will only ever be back up, Micah is too injury prone, Kompany gets injured way too often now, and Nasti...well, he could still be good.

If Kompany is still out for the Stoke game then hopefully Micah is fit and can partner Lescott. Nastasic was dropped for Stoke away last year due to his lack of aerial presence. If Micah isn't fit also for Stoke I'd prefer to partner Boyata with Lescott as he'd be able to handle Stoke's physical threat better than Nastasic.

Kompany is one of the best centre backs anywhere at the moment it would be ridiculous to even entertain the idea of scrapping him.I think himself and Nastasic have the potential to develop a very strong partnership. It is however a real worry in the short term when you look at our defensive injury crisis. We looked at sea against Cardiff and were blessed not to be punished a couple of times against the Tigers(bwahaha).Thankfully the Hull players were piss poor and couldn't take advantage.

Nonsense. All you have to do is just look at how we perform in his absence to realise how good he is.

Our current shit-ness is due to a lack of Barry breaking up the play infront of the defence, changing the defensive system, the midfield not being sure if they should drop back and help out or stay forward and not having 2 defenders playing together every week.

Vinny and lescott playing together are great. Since that partnership was fucked with it has been downhill vinny or no vinny.

If we went back to lescott and kompany we would look miles better from then on. Just getting vinny back with nastasic or garcia won't solve our problems though.

I know it has been talked about, but the speculation on Gallas coming in seems to have got everyone's attention.

Anyone know if this has any legs or, if true, when it could happen? He's on a free so I imagine if it is true, it is only personnel terms to sort out isn't it.

May as well stick Bazza at CB

So you saying you'll take Garcia/Nastasic?

Actually it might be them two vs Stoke. The count has hinted at revolving the squad now on as games coming quicker now on and he wants to keep the whole squad 'fresher' to fight on all four fronts.

Lescott would be a good option against Stoke IMO, l would not feel comfortable with Garcia at CB against anyone.

We won the league with Lesser at the back, we didn't win it without him.

Go figure.

I am not saying I think the players we signed are a mistake, not saying that I think they are shite or useless or Kolarov, but we strengthened the right wing, the left wing/striker, striker and central midfield.

Now one of those could have been ignored, just one...probably central midfield, and £30M would get you a top class defender. with Fred in the side, we could have kept Barry, who is not the fucking messiah and was struggling, but still a good intelligent player to have, had Milner in the middle, given Rodwell more game time, not had fucking Garcia filling in as a centrehalf.

Nastasic, Kompany, Lescott and Subotic perhaps...Nastasic and Lescott can rotate out or even play leftback(they couldn't do any worse than our jokers there at the moment) and right now against Stoke we'd be lining up with Subotic and Lescott instead of cringing and looking through our fingers every time they attack.

No, heaven forbid. I would rather see Dedryck play alongside Lescott as I think it provides a better balance as our current available centre-half options go. By the way I don't rate Boyata that highly either but he has got to be a better bet playing alongside Lescott than Garcia or Nastasic. One thing is for sure is that it is an area that needs strengthening in the next transfer window.

According to Pellers a chance that VK could be available for Tuesday, but will be available for the derby

“We’ll see with Vincent what happens, we’ll talk tomorrow, with the doctor with the player and we’ll see if he can play on Tuesday but if not, I’m sure he’ll be fine for the derby next Sunday".

This is positive news and is in contrast to some of the newspapers suggesting VK would be out until October.
