The past two games have moved me from dissatisfied to neutral. I think the players are starting to see what Pellegrini wants and are finally making sense of it. I still have a few reservations though, especially when we play three man midfields.

Brilliant result, tbh I am not really sure how the rags allowed us to own them so much... so all in all I'm gonna wait till I see if the problem in midfield is ironed out when the oppo looks like they are going to try to exploit it.

I suppose a question is what was the difference today ? was Yaya a bit further forward than Ferdi ? I'm not sure I could tell, I thought so at times.

Not as dissatisfied.

Fred sat back a lot this game, I thought he was very impressive in closing down the spaces without doing anything noticeably flashy.

I agree. He allowed the team to get on the front foot at times and let Yaya take more of the glory role.

This is true and long may it continue. However the rags did not get to grips in this contest. They were probably not even as good as Plzen tbh. So for that I'm still going to wait and see how the next few games pan out and see how we do in that dept against Chelsea.

btw, I kept to writing Yaya 13 times before the game, I think I need some credit here!

I'm actually very surprised United didn't exploit our midfield more in the middle (and go after Kolarov more on the left).

Fernandinho was better today, but he wasn't tested to the extent we have evidence he's better than Barry or Milner.

I still don't believe he was a worthwhile purchase, especially for £30m, but I hope he can develop into a good player for us.

We won't know what he's capable of until we play a side who tests us in midfield. United were not the side to do that.

Don't worry about Fernandino he is a class player, of that I am more than sure. Not sure if we will use him to the full, at least yet. He is looking for a role as yet and that is unsettling for such a player, but he will settle in and come to the fore in time.
Jovetic may have a similar problem as they are both trying to squeeze into an already overqualified team.

tough crowd here eh? It will be funny to see how long some hold on to their reservations, so that they can come back in to say "i told you so" at the next blip.

thought fernandinho was excellent, everything we could have wanted barry to be, and more mobile. I read a stat (unconfirmed) that he had 4 successful tackles and 5 interceptions ... that's immense.

I have been satisfied with the transfer business, the stated intention of more flair and the manner in which he conducts himself. He has bought some time and credit by crafting a good hiding for the rags. But I want to see how he does in beating shit teams away from home. So far, pretty poor.
But, possibly more good than bad in general

Yesterday was one of our best performances ever v the rags, as we totally dominated the game & won it by half time. I give the Count & the players full credit for that; it was magnificent.

But we have a squad of fantastic players, albeit we are still short of cover in one or two areas. This is how we should be playing. It is good stuff from the Count but it's his job, as it was Mancini's last season, to get the team playing at that level. He has the tools.

Last season we, & the other teams at the top end, allowed that shower of fucking shite to win the league by Christmas. They are shite now & they were shite then & they fucking left us, & all the other underacheiving turds in the Prem for dead. Mancini was totally fucking hopeless, as were all the other top managers apart from Ferguson. Our manager SHOULD have us at least neck & neck with them, however many points they get, because they are shite & if they can get points, so should we.

Yesterday, the team showed that they could do a fair bit of the stuff the Count wants them to do & if we go on from there & continue to improve, then I will move from dissatisfied to over the fucking moon. But it's about keeping it going & making sure we don't fuck up, like we did last season.

Well done yesterday Von Krolock, you made us proud. Now do it again.

Two wins this week in games we had to win and no doubt some people will have switched 180 degrees.

Id like to see some good away performances, starting at Villa next Saturday. Its a game we need to go and win, to hold serve so to speak. Our form at home has never been a problem for the past 3 seasons, its the away games that have largely been the problem and one Pellegrini I am sure is aware of. Over to you City.

I am one of those 2.

last time I looked we had played just 5 games. I realise that stuffing the shower of shite that the rags turned out has made everyone giddy but as City need to prove they have resolved the problem of who is going to cover the defence and show that kind of team commitment on a rainy night away from home.
They have dropped 5 points in the first 4 games for no reason whatsoever apart from not realising no-one was covering the defence. That is poor given the talent at our disposal. Until they show they both understand what is needed and show some respect for lesser teams I will remain seriously dissatisfied.

As the poll is in the now, I am more satisfied that we are making some progress, although we still have quite away to go.

Great display testerday witha lot of good individual performances....However, it was the particularly siuperb performance by Yaya, especially in the earlier parts of each half backed up by the outstanding quality of Vinnie that both, gave us the platform to destroy the rags and remain stable at the back.

As Yaya tired after tremendous effort in the latter stages of both halves, our standards dipped and the rags had quite long periods of uncontested possession. At times, it was the genius of Kompany that saved us from being vulnerable.

The rags were hopeless yesterday and could not live with us when we played but even as poor as they were, we let them have a lot of possession. Scored 1, hit the post with another...how twitch could those last few minutes have been.

But there's a lot of "what if's" there John. Yaya certainly tired as the game wore on, but this was at 4-0 up. He knew he could afford to pull back a gear or two, I highly doubt our energy and drive to score would have waned had we been only leading by a goal.
