This Weeks Other Games | Sat 2 - Mon 4 May 15

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Fellaini is Utd's best player. By a distance. When the tactic of lumping it to him as a pseudo midfield player was instantly snuffed out, they changed to lumping it at him as a striker & it almost worked.

Tbf to him, when he went to cf, he just pinned his defender to the edge of the box, took the ball at his feet or on his chest & dropped it into the path of other Utd players. If not for poor play by them, it would havr worked.

What I don't understand is why Dzeko, or even Aguero can't do the same; just take the ball & set people up. It's basic football but nobody at City (except maybe Bony) can do it.

Ronaldo is probably the only player in the world who can head a football like cfs could 40 years ago (or Colin Bell) The goal he just scored was pure old school. They all do it once a year, but he does it regularly.

Pretty well the only football skill Fellaini has is "pinning" a player as you put it. BUT he has the allied non football skill of smashing you in the face so players are a bit wary of such a tactic and let him get away with the pinning bit.

I would not have said he was their best player today as they didn't have a player worthy of the word best. They were bog awful. Somehow the keeper is being hailed as a superhero for a few good saves but really the scum didn't create much at all and got what they deserved.

They definitely got what they deserved but I think if our strikers could just do a bit of the bog standard stuff Fellaini did today, it might actually solve a lot of the problems we have v packed defences. The efforts of those around him were hopeless. Bony possibly will do if given the chance. Jovetic for instance has been crying out for either Dzeko or Aguero to just hold off a defender on the edge of the box, receive a pass from him, and drop it in his path. What Fellaini was trying to do today, rather than being some Dutch football tactical masterclass, was exactly what Mark Hughes was doing in 1992. It came closer to working than any of his pretend Ajax stuff.

I think that line should have stopped there.

Fellaini was dogshit and nowhere near their best player. The only reason he stands out is because he has become a target man for the longball tactics, just like Peter Crouch. Now, it's good to use that tactic every now and then but I wouldn't want to see it as a full game tactic.

LVG is an amazingly egotistical man. He shrugs off losing to WBA as one of those things in football and just reflects on them totally dominating the game and missing chances. But for some reason he isn't asked why he played their best striker in midfield and then in the 2nd half when they are in dire need of a goal he plays their 2nd best striker in midfield with the best one and shoves bog brush up front.

And to cap it all probably their main threat gets moved back from winger to some sort of wing back with real defensive duties just so the rat can play in his position and confirm he is useless.

Staggering management for me and yet he is still going to be hailed as a genius for getting them into the top 4 when really they should have been a serious title challenger with all the money they have spent. We should have been a more serious challenge too of course but our manager is being pilloried for his efforts.

Van Persie and Rooney in midfield was unbelievably bad management, I honestly couldn't believe what I was seeing and I expect nor could most of Old Trafford. I'm all for a plan B when a team parks the bus, but that was most certainly not what was needed yesterday. When balls were being crossed in Rooney and RVP were 20/30 yards behind play.

They were called out for it on BeIN sports by the pundits who said he had clearly lost the fucking plot

Not talking about the long ball stuff & if you read the rest of that sentence perhaps you would notice.

Just watching MOTD 2. Looks like the man in black has had a big say again. Terry on his arse blocking a Palace shot with his arm in the air, no pen. Hazard runs into MacArthur, pen. The fuckers really have been incompetent this season.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.
