On top of that as has been mentioned no other decent home grown players are going for this price.
Which means all other homegrown targets are now going to cost more as they know we don't have this one up our sleeve.
I really hate to be negative about city, but this transfer window is looking just as bad as the last few. Not filling me with confidence at all.
I'm trying to remain positive but it's getting more difficult by the week.
This is really starting to look like we are being stitched up. I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but you could be forgiven for believing there is a concerted effort going on in England to undermine us this summer.
At the very least this Delph u-turn would weaken our hand in the Sterling deal. I really hope we have that one nailed down, but somehow I think this means paying the 50mil if we want him, which will be reported as victory for Liverpool.
The media seem to have every angle covered in the Dippers favour.
Why are they so out to screw us. Perhaps because more than this window, being make or break for City, really they know it is make or break for Liverpool, United and/or Arsenal. They delayed us with FFP but realise we are past that now. You could be forgiven for believing there is something else going on behind the scenes to try and fuck up what was looking like a very significant transfer window, for us.
It's probably just paranoia, which is brought on by the wine at this time of night, but I think perhaps we were, or still are, seriously close to the Pogba/De Bruyne and Sterling deals and it scares the established order of things. Maybe that's why Delph got cold feet when he got close and found out just how real the possibility was that he would be competing with them and Yaya as well as the two Ferns. Who knows, but that is probably looking at it, over optimisticly at this stage.
I was never for the Sterling deal originally, but at this stage I think the media would crucify us if we left him swinging. I think we have to go for it or look like assholes.
Personally I would have preferred to promote an extra two academy players, keep the Sterling money and put the money towards 3 marquee signings, but that boat has sailed.
