I didn’t know we agreed a purchase fee? Anyone know if this is true? Why so low?! Doyle could have a class season for Wolves and be worth £10-15m but we’ve already agreed £4m? Surely can’t be true as our top guys are usually pretty astute - £4m when we sold players like Charles for £10m doesn’t sound right!

I'd read at the time that it was a whopping £5 million, which is still way under market value imo. I'd have liked for him to stay but the powers-that-be have clearly decided that he was surplus and wanted Nunes which is why we have gone low with Doyle's prospective fee. Question is has this made wolves weaker or stronger? Personally, I thought KDB returning brought out better in Nunes yesterday so we'll see how that dynamic progresses

Maybe his contract ends this summer? And we agreed a loan with a small fee on this basis, otherwise he could go elsewhere for free?

Because on the face of it £4-5M is way too low under normal circumstances

Contracted until June 30th 2025 apparently

Then that doesn't make sense and seems really low, which is actually very unlikely us. Unless it was a sweetener for the Nunes deal?

Likely a sweetener for the Nunes deal. I think this is proof we definitely panicked after the WHU lad was caught up in the betting scandal, because £4m for Doyle is terrible business considering what our kids that have no experience go for.

Nunes did alright when he came on yesterday. The opposition wasn’t great but hopefully this will be a turning point for him. Kovacic looked good as well to be fair.

Another highly rated kid out for the season - Alex Robertson on loan at Pompey.

Didn’t realise Liam Delap was fit again. Came on and scored for Hull. I think that’s his level and he’ll make a decent Championship striker.

Looks like we’re trying to get McAtee to sign a new contract.

Sounds like we don’t want a repeat for Palmer.

James McAtee will get the chance this summer to play his way into Pep Guardiola's plans for the season with senior stars absent from tour.
Chelsea are among the clubs to have already enquired with #mcfc over a move and will be watching closely

If we sell him or any other kid to Chelsea again I’ll be royally pissed off.

Don't think the Doyle contract was as bad as it souds. 4.3 million is cheap but apparently we have a two year buy back option and 50% return on any future sale.

McAtee -

“If you look at Phil, Rico (Lewis), Oscar (Bobb), they’ve been patient and been rewarded,’ McAtee said.

‘My mindset is definitely different (this year). I’m going to see how this tour goes. Obviously it’s my dream to play for this club.

I’m not really fussed about minutes. I just want to learn from the best manager, the best players and it’s not really about minutes. I’ve gone out and got my minutes, with the physicality of the men’s game.

Obviously I know the demands and quality in this team. If I wasn’t to get minutes it’s not something I’d be upset with but my aim is to prove myself and get into the team as much as I can. I need to earn that.“

Sounds as if he's learned his lesson after last season. Good

Doyle got an assist for Norwich today. Won the ball well and played the attacker through.

Is he on loan? Some reason I thought we'd sold him?

season long loan
not 21 yet and has already clocked up nearly 120 senior games. i wouldn’t write him off as a future city first teamer.
