Was worse when Typical Cookie did it as he wasn't in an excited heat of the moment situation. Also brand promotion was very much his job, Pellegrini's is winning football matches and ultimately trophies. Filed under silly bugger. Moving on.

Like it or not we're a business and our owners will care a lot. A whole fucking lot. Personally it doesn't affect me, but ya know, i'm not the one trying to make our club the biggest in the world.

And now we won't be the biggest club in the world?

Leave it to the rags to use it and try and take the shine off winning another major trophy.

An unfortunate slip of the tongue will not harm our quest for global dominance, no more than it did when garry cook said it.

He is human. He is paid to win trophies using an attractive brand of football and as long as he continues to achieve that, then we can leave the global dominance up to the global dominance people.

I find it mildly irritating at worst.
Harmful to global dominance?

pffffft

It just makes it harder in the short term, undoubtedly. It won't live for us forever, as things like this don't, but they do irritate at the time and it'd definitely have irked them in the boardroom.

As i said, im not bothered personally, but its definitely a bit amateur and shouldn't happen.

That's pretty much how I feel. It hasn't detracted from what was a great day for us at all.

But saying you work for your employer's biggest rivals, even in the heat of the moment, shouldn't happen. I'm sure he feels terrible about it though and he'll make sure it won't happen again.

The biggest story of the weekend is not Pellegrini's slip of the tongue. It's our League Cup win, with 3 excellent goals.

To be fare, what can you actually say about that? Any other time he's get a pasting by us Blues as there is no way he should be confused with such a thing but because he's won the cup you can't really have a pop, just like the gaffe playing Bayern.

It does't help though and I'd expect any manager we have to actually know who they manage. A slip of the tongue maybe, but one that takes just a little of that shine away.

He better not do it again.

As far as the brand goes, this little hiccup has done more for publicity than him not doing it.

I'm in the "just let's move on" camp on this.

On the day I was impressed that he let the players have the limelight and pretty much kept himself to himself.
Well done Manuel for a great victory.

I do wonder how long it will be before Mourinho slips the knife in on this one, maybe along the lines of "the club I love, that I will never forget its name".

He doesn't have the same kind of mentality, or obsession with Manchester Utd as many over here, & hasn't been in the City job long enough to be programmed into the mentality required for that, but has been constantly questioned about 'Manchester Utd' week in week out, even though we are not playing them.

It's just that part of his brain using the wrong word whilst he is thinking about other things & I doubt he will have realised it was anything to bother about other than a small word, until someone explained to him how City fans regard it, & how the media are obsessed with Utd & will want to use it. Then he'll try to be on guard against all things Utd in the future.

At least he didn't say 'fuck' in the middle of a speech, like the Pope just did.

he's a sixty year old football man
for fifty nine years he's only heard the word "manchester" next to that other word, "twats" (let's say)
He became conditoned like many and was on automatic pilot. It just came out

If I say Manchester Utwatsed won the cup, then people will think Manchester Utwatsed won the cup and fans will think that Agent M is doing a great job and no-one will want him sacked before he completes his master weapon, a summer of Shevchenko level purchases.

I personally don't give a shit about Pelligrini making gaffes like that, he just won a cup ffs!!

He can do it again if he wants, I don't care. This season we have been playing some of the best football I've ever seen, we've won the first trophy we could have possibly won and are still competing in the other 3 - and some people are saying "make a verbal slip again and you can fk off"?!?! Couldn't agree more. Brands are for cattle. It's all marketing bollocks which is meaningful in the context of selling baked beans.

I just don't give a shiny shite that he said "United". He can do it twice a day if he keeps getting results like this. Moyes, to my knowledge, has never said "City" in error. I know whom I'd prefer as manager of Wolves, sorry, I mean City. Get a grip, girls and boys.

And?

I can't understand why people give a shit. In saying United did that mean we also have to transfer the trophy into their cabinet instead? It makes fuck all difference.

I'm hoping he replaces Van Pussy with Torres personally. What a coup that would be for the RAGs. And it would be in keeping with this focus on his attacking line.

FFS, some people need to get a grip. He just won us the cup and we're moaning that he had a slip of the tongue?
Worse than the press some of you lot.

I can understand and even criticized him for the gaffe in Bayern but this is so trivial.
