Robin van Persie has been ruled out for six weeks, meaning he will miss Manchester United’s Champions League double header against Bayern Munich.

The Dutchman scored a hat trick in the 3-0 win over Olympiakos but now United have now revealed that the 17-goal forward, who missed much of November, December and January with a thigh problem, will be out for some time after a scan to determine the scale of sprained knee.

Manager David Moyes earlier said: “Robin van Persie won't be available [on Saturday against West Ham], we're getting him rescanned. We've got a lot of games coming up, it's important we have all our players fit and available.”

For the game against the Hammers, it means Moyes faces a decision whether to recall Javier Hernandez, who has not played since Feb. 9’s draw against Fulham, or to move Danny Welbeck, who excelled on the left wing against Olympiakos, into a central role, or whether to pick Wayne Rooney as a lone striker.

The sad thing is that it's actually being reported. I'd suggest that most, if not all clubs do this but it's done in a discreet manner not to bring focus on the grieving family.

If the club have brought this to the medias attention, that's just pathetic, and if the family have, I'd say exactly the same. The fact that the media report it is just ridiculous.

On the media, I've noticed, just like J@A, that there seems to be a heavy spin on Pellers and Fernando's comments, turning the 'United played poorly' interview into 'United are shit' basically.

Then there's the new motivational speech. Forget everything else, it's all about the fans. It's coming out of every orifice within the Rag camp. Looks like it's going to be a tastey one, for sure.

Rag mate said that the rumour around the ground before the Olympiakos game was that Taggart had been at the ground since early morning and had had every player in to see him individually. He didn't think much of it until he saw the difference in performance at which point he thinks there may be since truth.

If it is true that he's had to come back to sort out the players, then it's surely the end for Moyes. Pity, it was fun whilst it lasted.

I read something along the same lines - some sort of "crisis meeting" among the Utd. players - I think it was Carrick talking - he didn't say who organised it or if Moyes was present.
