He's obviously world class mate but what tonight and other games have shown is that he is by no means unplayable. He can be stopped and marshalled by a solid, organized team.

This tournament really was his chance to stake a claim to be regarded as the best player ever and he's been very ordinary and tonight on the biggest stage he was non existent.
Class player, one of the best ever for sure but certainly not worth paying 300 million or whatever it would cost to sign him.

Others have mentioned it. He's played an enormous amount of games for a 26 year old and his body has taken one hell of a beating. I think he's past his best and from now on may start to decline. Not dramatically and he'll certainly still be one of the best if not the best out there but I don't think he'll reach the level that he was at a year or two earlier.
I've always been against signing him for the fees being reported. There's no guarantee he'd have the same impact in our league. He'd get far less protection from refs and he'd face a lot more organized, rough sides.

All the stuff people are saying about Messi, was being said about Robben 3 years ago.

Between Robben & pigfucker for best player imo but it shouldn't be forgotten that the only reason Argentina got through is because of several golazos by Messi.

Having said that, if Aguero was fully fit & you swapped Messi for Silva, Yaya or Nasri, they would have won easily tonight. Messi plays for them, like Gerrard etc play for England. He is a greedy cunt who rarely ever plays a first time pass.

Messi hasn't been at his best for 2/3 years now. He walks about the pitch now slowly waiting for the ball... three years ago you couldn't contain him. He was incredible and constantly on the ball. He also looked faster. Swear he's lost a yard of pace.

Even when Messi was banging in 50 odd goals season before last he didn't look anywhere near as good as he did a couple of years earlier when he was scoring the same amount. He used to be terrifyingly vibrant. Dunno what's happened to be honest.

Demi and Zaba were world class all through this tournament,,,Demi Im more pleased for as he went through a torrid time for us at the start but he has carried on from the last day of the season till the end of the WC.
