I saw his name as scorer for Grimsby while back and "no way - didn't he used to play for us" was pretty much exactly what I thought. There are some proper great shouts on this topic as well. Makings of a Classic topic imo.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

In my lifetime, there is one former youth player who had a fairly successful, high profile career but whose City connections are very rarely mentioned - Neil Lennon. Birmingham away anyone?

Interesting reading back over this thread, especially everything about Edghill. That was one of the most disgusting things I've seen in 17 years supporting the club. Apparently he has a behind the scenes role at City these days, which I hope is actually true.

Lee Briscoe anyone? Played about 5 games on loan from Sheffield Wednesday in about '98, I didn't think he was so bad.

Danny Allsopp the great Australian hope.

I've lived through some really shit City players....

I witnessed his 1 and only appearance. He came on as a sub for Mark Seagraves at Ipswich and we lost 1-0. Could only see half of the pitch due to the the fencing used for segregation.

Glad that I'm not the only fucker who remembers this. Apparently the County fans used to chant "Theres only one William Williams"!!!

I will also throw in Kevin Langley and Robert Hopkins - pair of [strike]classy midfielders[/strike] cunts they were.

Tony Scully. Brilliant cameo in an away game against Bury (we lost), then did fuck all.
Tony Vaughn. Dog turd left back.
John Foster. Promising right back coming through the academy, never quite worked for him. Thighs like tree trunks. He's working for GMP now. Think Ian Brightwell works for the Manc fire brigade also. Less said about David, the better.
Scott Heaney. We get him from Soton? Another who was mint on his debut (3-3 home draw with newcastle). Toss afterwards.
Nigel Clough. Fuck off.
RE McGoldrick. I was evidently one of the few who liked him. Thought he could spray the ball well and gave us the ability to swap play, something we'd missed since Flitcroft left. But I was young, so I obviously didn't know shite.
I remember Tskhadadze being a beast, Shelia too once he settled in. Again, I appear to be wrong.
Carlo Nash. God he was shit.
Laurent Charvez. Was it Clark who brought him in? "His pace is the biggest asset, he's the quickest player in the league". What a load of shit that turned out to be.
I remember the day we'd spent big on Paolo Wanchope, new club record. Then half an hour later nobody gave a shit as we'd also brought in Weah.
Gareth Taylor. Fucking useless. Absolutely fucking useless. But he must be accepted due to the knock down that led to Dickov's goal in 99.
Has Craig russell been mentioned? Another steaming heap of shite.
When Gary Mason came through I was really impressed. Played half a season I think, then went off the boil and went North. Carved out a decent enough career in Scotland so I'm told.
Was anybody at the League Cup game when we beat Wycome Wanderers 4 nil at Maine Road during the Kappa years? I'll always remember it as whoever was in charge (Hartford I think) decided to take the piss with 15 minutes left to go and put Martyn Margetson on up front. All 10 people in the ground were egging him on to score but it didn't work out. Funny though.
Also, bit of an aside, anybody remember Weaver's ACTUAL debut? Nil nil draw at home to Jamaica. He pulled off 3 stunning first half saves in front of the North Stand. About 22,000 there that night. Bizarre fixture, happened in something like November.
I digress, let's say hello to Simon fucking Tracy. I've never forgiven you, you fucking dickhead.
Tommy Wright Wright Wright, Tommy Wright Wright Wright.
Spencer Pryor. Steve Howey.

Anybody remember the 1152 commentator who had stupid nicknames for our players? Kinkladze, The Georgian Maestro, Peter Beagrie, The Artful Dodger, Paul Walsh, The Little Genius.

If only I could remember more. I've seen nothing but shit in my time at City. Then I got older and have never been able to afford it since, but coincidently that's when the good times started to come, aside from the Pearce year. Maybe it's best I don't go anymore if all I bring to the club is the luck to have Darren Wassell as the lynchpin of our defense next to Kit Symons.

Think it was Neil Heaney and Scott Hiley.

We got Heaney from Southampton, and sold Hiley to them (he came from Birmingham or Portsmouth, I think).

Brian Clark. He also seemed to say "Outside that City penalty area" far too often. He was also on some of the early 90's season review video's doing interviews with the likes of Mel Machin and Peter Swales.
