Let's say that Chelsea pay 50m for Torres.. would you take 15m and Carrol for Torres?

yeah i think liverpool have seen the best of him. he will never play for another english team the way he played for them 2 years ago. carroll is class and will only get better he's got it all. my flatmate (scouse) isn't happy but i think he's just hurt by torres more than anything also theyt might be getting anelka meaning they will have far more options with suarez, carroll and anelka than constantly piling their hopes on torres. that is brillinat in my opinion.

Another way of looking at it is Carrol+Adam & change... Still rather have Torres I think:P (Unless L'pool know something we don't about his health).

The only good things are 1: he didn't go to Spurs & 2: rumour has it he's already doing the pathetic homesich Geordie routine in which case he'll be fucking hopeless.

Otherwise, the fact that we'll need 3 points at Anfield & they'll have diving Suarez plus Carroll & Adam, well it's made our job potentially a lot harder & is fucking bad news. Have the rags & Spurs been there yet?

I think that the idea is that he is a replacement for Johnson and it speaks volumes on Mancini@s confidence that SWP can step up

Would make perfect sense to me

Underwhelming? possibly if this was the conclusion to a long hunt for a winger - but given AJ got injured last week and we only just know the extent - some sharp work if this goes through IMO - the big deals for top players are not done in the couple of day that were available

If it ends up like this for Liverpool:

Out: Torres
In: Carrol, Anelka, Adam

I think they've done good business this window.

If it's only Torres out/Carrol in.. then maybe not the best.

Rags definitely haven't. I don't think Spurs have either.

I'd just like to put on record that we would be getting fucking slated for paying either of those fees for those players at this time. Where is the outrage in the media?

I watched the City match yesterday and after 4 minutes of turning it on Dzeko's price tag had been mentioned at least three times. It's funny because when Bent made his debut against us the other week it wasn't mentioned once.

Don't tell me you buy into this biased media lark??

There will be no outrage, because Liverpool and Chelsea are half of the "big four".

These unequivocal messages about Torres from us really makes me think we've agreed with Chelsea not to go after him if they avoid one or two of our summer targets.

If Carrol embraces the move & doesn't do the sad bastard homesick Geordie routine, rags & Spurs will struggle like fuck against him. Rags were lucky they faced him 1st game but he still fucking destroyed Vidic in the air but missed from 5 yards. (Typical OT) He could be a deciding factor v them too.

Would be great if that was the case, unfortunately I don't think Abramovich wants to do any agreements like that. I think it is simply us being happy with the strikers we have and think that 50m is FAR too much for someone who has not performed in a while and has been injured chronically for some time:-)

Still think we are one top striker short (considering Balotelli is more a wide player in our formation), pref. someone who is like Balo that can play wide in a 433. Aguero comes into mind but he seems to be content with staying at AM... Maybe Messi?:P

On loan
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Would you still be dissapointed if he plays a few games for us this season?:-) I'd prefer that over a loan move to be honest, easier for us to make sure he is not injured again by having him here and not in some cold randomtown.

He's good, no doubt about it mate, but he is not 35m and Andy Carroll replacing Fernando Torres is Liverpool weakened IMO.

Suarez replacing Babel should improve them (time will tell) and Adam replacing whoever the fuck he's supposed to be replacing (maybe doing the job that Cole was supposed to do?!) should also help...

But overall, after all the money has changed hands, I think Liverpool's first team will still be as average as it is now (at best), with one less truely world class player.
