i agree. i wish Roberto would quit bitching about him in the press. It's really not fair. I mean the manager who won us two trophies is off his rocker and completely full of shit in a "Raglike" way, isn't he?

No, our manager is a typical Italian that speaks his mind before thinking of the consequencies. I love the fella but just because he's won 2 shinnies does not make him god, he's an employee just like Marwood is. Demento has won about 30 and he's as cunty as they come

SkySports:

Manager Roberto Mancini admitted Manchester City have given up on signing Robin van Persie after expressing his frustration with the club's transfer policy.

Both City and derby rivals United have lodged bids for the Arsenal striker, who is in the last year of his contract and has refused to sign a new deal.

But with the transfer window closing in just three weeks' time, Mancini feels negotiations have hit a dead end.

"We only have 20 days to the end of the market and I don't think that we have any chance for him," he said.

Mancini said two weeks ago that City would need to improve their squad if they are to retain the Premier League title this season.

Marwood role
Football administrator Brian Marwood is responsible for player recruitment and Mancini put pressure on the former Arsenal player by saying he hopes "he can do a good job" in securing his transfer targets.

City have been linked with the likes of Daniel Agger, Scott Sinclair and Daniele De Rossi yet with the Blues set to face Chelsea in the Community Shield on Sunday, they remain the only Premier League side yet to sign anyone this summer.

Asked whether he was happy with the management structure at City, Mancini replied: "I am not happy - but I don't know what to say.

"You need to ask Brian Marwood," he added. "I am not the sporting director. I can't say anything about players."

Balotelli interest
City haven't sold any of last season's first-team regulars either, though, and Mancini revealed he brushed off interest in Mario Balotelli after impressing during Italy's run to the Euro 2012 final.

Balotelli has been a controversial figure since arriving from Inter Milan and City could well have got back the £24million they paid for him in 2010, but Mancini wants Balotelli to fulfil his potential with the Blues.

"We had a lot of requests for him," Mancini said of his compatriot, who turns 21 on Sunday.

"Many important teams wanted him. I said no because he is young and we are sure he can improve."

you mean the consequences of Marwood actually pulling his finger out and getting some reinforcements? i think he knows well and good the consequences and hopes that he in fact lights a fire under some people to move their asses and get some business done.

well, i'm right there with him then.

Do you really find it acceptable that we've signed no one? i just find it totally fucking odd that on the back of winning the league we would choose to take our foot off the gas.

And don't start with FFP. Chelsea and PSG have basically said "lick our ballsacks" and i think that's been the right response, because it's ultimately bullshit.

Mancini?

I'm sure he knows how hard it is to negotiate deals for top players, and yes we would all love to sign someone who would improve us, but it would help if he kept comments mentioning Marwood directly to just the top dogs at the club and not the press.

It's not going to help at all.

Yeah, I am really not happy with his attitude, he has us trophies and we will be forever thankful for that, but in terms of sewing disharmony, something he shipped out Bellamy and Ade for, then shouldn't he have himself on the transfer list?

Agree with this.

Ultimate aim is to push on in the Champs league this year, we need to strengthen to do that.

At least we need a class CB. At best add a world class CM to that and not sell any of the first team squad.

Mancini is right, the lack of activity is not good enough, more so when you see all our rivals considerably strengthening. This season will no doubt be harder than the last as a result of this, so we need to raise our own quality to push on and keep our title.

Marwood get your finger out.

I certainly think we need to sign a player or two to keep things fresh and improve things in certain areas but the fact of the matter is we have a few players to offload first otherwise the squad will be far too big again. As I said I'd rather wait for the right player that ticks all the boxes that signing for signings sake. If we sign nobody then thats gives hope to the youngsters that could break through and is certainly not the relegation (or even dropping out of the top 3) wrist slitting scenario that some think will exist if no new 'world stars' turn up

Yes we need something, we hardly want to be stagnant and "worked out", so a couple of players is probably needed.

However, this obsession over Agger, de Rossi and especially RVP is where the spoilt brat comes in. If he can't have the toy he wants, there is nothing stopping him from finding another player, quite frankly I think it's fucking poor management to have zero contingency for this very situation.

You should have been very much, well and broadly sidetracked in the last 14 months because:
a) I for one, whether I am anyone/thing or not, was already complaining since when, last summer window, he was able to waste so much time to let Barca jumping onto Alexis Sanchez, while "Mankini" had clearly requested to the board purchase of him at latest by early april.
the practice to identify major targets for the streghtening campaing well in advance the transfer window opens is very common in the Italian top Clubs practice, as well as in the practice of pretty almost other member of G14 Elite, so that the first day the window opens deals are already done and just need paperworks.
Whether You and Marwood do know it or not, it's called taking advantage from market intelligence and Club's influence.
b) every day after the seasons ends the Manager pay a visit to the Owner, along with the Chairman: in this summit they use to revise strenght and weakness of the team, identify options to sort them out, weighing pros and cons, then they agree few targets, probably including option a) and option b) for each position to be covered and, then, the target/s are submitted to the attention, care and action of the presumed sporting director.
c) I see, understand and consider the plan to write off an important part of losses for FFP sake, but I VERY VERY MUCH doubt that, the HUGE increase of income generated by Mancini leading the Club to the world's most prestigious League title has not taken into account by the Owner and Chairman of the world's richest football club and has not considered fit enough to financing a couple of very aimed and needed signign.
Otherwise, if I am wrong and the Manager was told to shut up and work with the huge technical wealth he already has only, I doubt very much he would have signed such a committing extension of contract and face the pressure and expectations of Fans and Media worldwide in order to deliver futher major honours (including UCL) in the close forthcomings.
d) the FACTS that each and every deal which involves MCFC automatically turns overboards of the usual market values because it's MCFC - the richest money bag - it's just a false myth partly generated by the pro Big 14 media hype. But the SAD REALITY is that its 90 % down to the facts that, once Owner and Chairman have agreed and SANCTIONED a market strategy upon the manager's requests, that strategy is executed by a clueless sporting director, with no qualication, no experience, no introduction and questianable attitude towards negotiations.
IF CITY had a senior sporting director in charge, each and every deal would have been and will be sorted in an heartbeat after the Chairman had turned down the phone. FAILING TO SEE THIS ASTONISHING EVIDENCE is the only evidence of stupidity, dear Chinners!

IN KHALDOON I TRUST, as well as any other Marwood lickers, and I always stated that foom day one.

We have a sporting director thou ... one that, as you suggest, is probably under the orders of our owners and is reluctant for our club to keep getting ripped off by transfers/agents like we have been in the past. Just because a player demands £200k a week doesn't mean we have to pay it. The player either wants to win stuff or they don't. We are the Champions of England and if that is not good enough for some players then fucl them. Buying players for the sake of it is more daft than buying nobody at all ... it's quite simple really

that's what You don't get Mate!
a SENIOR, influencial sporting director is able to leverage the deals (i.e. to say to fuclers Ade, have that slight wage cut, otherwise You won't wear a major Club kit in your life time anymore)!
take kind of things happen every day in every field of business and that's what differs a lad from a senior director, ffs.

be said with utmost respect to YOU, Ted, and all others who thinks it's better to pretend of thinking differnt for the Club's sake.

None of you ever explain what the fuck it is you think Marwood should do.

Just let Adebayor go for fuck all & not even try to get a fee ? Pay 30 mil for Van Persie ?

Just a load of mumbo jumbo that can mean absolutely anything.

I'll tell you what Mancini wants Marwood to do; spend fucking money. He is badgering Khaldoon & the Sheikh by moaning at Marwood because if he moans at them, he'll be out on his arse by the end of the season. He knows they will do that, because he was the hidden replacement they recruited to take Hughes' job.

If Mancini persuades Khaldoon to order Marwood to spend, we will sign whoever, at whatever price. If however Khaldoon prefers Marwood to continue following his orders, we will only sign players at the right price.

If Mancini gets Marwood sacked, Khaldoon will appoint someone else & he won't pay over the odds for players either.

Mancini said last year, he wanted more say in how this works, like Ferguson does. Well Marwood shat all over Ferguson in signing Nasri, Silva & others at fair prices when the rags were sniffing for fucking months, years even.
