I'm glad I'm not the only one who has no idea what he was on about.

We can either persevere with Rodwell and risk going through another period of instability similar to the one we had at the beginning of the season when our first choice central midfielders still hadn't 'got it' or we can use the best second choice available to us at this moment in time - which is Garcia. It comes down to using Garcia or very possibly losing matches. (and demichelis is slower and less mobile than Garcia, who is erm, not known for his speed or mobility in general).

Garcia. Strange one. Reminds me of the time Paul McCartney died and was replaced with a double so the fans wouldn't commit suicide.

Think we saw what Mancini and Pellegrini see in him. Positional awareness above all. Agree he's not a first choice for us long or even medium term but a much better second choice alternative than any of our others by far IMO. As for Barca then if Fernadinho not fit then he has to start. No other credible alternative exists I'm afraid.

Garcia looked like the player who impressed when at Benfica - maybe suits Pellegrini's system better than any other second choice player - I thought he showed that we do miss him when he's not fit & possibly some of the criticism of City fans was a little OTT

It has been all too easy on this forum to blame Garcia for being 'Slow', for example. Than to place blame where it really belongs.

Time after time other midfielders have been poor, but Garcia does his job. It's a clean up job, no great goals, just a necessary job to allow Silva Nasri and Yaya to go forward without worry.

Others cock up but blame Garcia for being slow.

He's finding his feet and played where he is best ( and why we bought him) he becoming a very good player for us. Pellers is doing a great job getting much more out of these players but he's not a miracle worker so nastasic is a challenge too far , But Garcia is starting to look the business at last.

Anyone see Joey Barton tweet that reason for the win was replacing Demi with Milner. James did well right enough but seems like he's missed the main point.

Thought Garcia did play well as did milner, lescott.Thought the bench looked stronger tonight. We seemed to have a more athletic side compared to the league match with Chelsea. Oh nearly forgot Jovetic who was good but a little rusty at times. But loads of potential.

I thought Garcia was outstanding.

Today I finally realized what Pellegrini actually sees in him. He should be called "Ronseal" does what it says on the tin. He breaks up play very effectively in that holding role, keeps it simple, no nonsense. Cant believe I am saying this, but he could become an integral part of our side in the next few weeks.

Well done Javi, I hope there are more performances like that to come.

I am one of his biggest critics, he was garbage for us for such a long time but he was very good today.

He has put in a few very good performances this season but he has had his fair share of stinkers aswell.

Still not convinced. His lack of pace will always be the big problem.

I never thought I would say this but it was good to have him back today.Job well done.

Garcia plays well and looks good against teams that have a go at us. Bayern away and tonight were two of his best games where he did his job.

He gets criticised when he plays in a two-man midfield against the lesser teams that sit back because he can't provide much going forward.

Motm for me tonight.

He's had good and bad games, but the good ones have been the most recent ones. I'm hoping he's settled in/got fit/discovered chips and gravy or whatever it is that's made the difference.
