We know why, his ability with the ball, but his shortcomings are becoming worse. Perhaps we could see a change if this keeps up.

His ability on the ball isn't really that good! He likes giving it away regularly!

The only thing he's really better at than Lescott is that he looks less awkward on the ball.

What's worse about Demichelis is that he makes the rest of the defence, particularly Kompany, significantly under perform. Kompany's best appearances are generally with Lescott as he has a strong partner next to him. When he has Demichelis or Nastasic next to him he has to spent a lot of his time worrying when their next mistake will happen.
