Agents bring deals to conclusion, how this one has collapsed would be worth knowing, oh wait it's football we will never find out. As others have said time to get them done now 45 or 50 mill for Sterling must be more to it, KDB the same, if he wants to come he does, PP get him in.

Wow, this was a surprise!

Quite an interesting saga this. There was no official news from anywhere but when SSN spew the ITK about Delph having a medical, Delph then makes a statement.

I have no doubt there was can enquiry from somewhere, but were we really at the point to do a medical?

All sounded a little fishy, especially as they were willing to let him go for the minimum price, with no other bidders. Surely an England player would be worth so much more, to somebody?

We will never know, but regarding the price, maybe the contract said if a top 4 club bid the required release amount, they were entitled to speak to the player and subsequently sign him without a saga?

How transfers should be concluded IMO

True, but as this one didn't happen, and that there were no other bidders, it sounds like it was an enquiry only or Villa trying to get a bidding war going and that's why he's pledged his allegiance so early - no takers.

Maybe it has all been done by Sherwood. Trying to assert his authourity and be seen as the man to turn Villa round before they get new owners. He then says he managed to persuade Delph from leaving, when in reality he was never going to go.

Could be mate, there's definitely something not right with this.

On a similar note, I didn't realise Delph moved to Villa so long ago. I only remember him being there for the last couple of seasons but he's been there for 6 years now and hardly played in his first 3 seasons which turned out to be due to a cruciate ligament injury in early 2010.

Maybe he still has problems and has to manage the situation, and that's why the price isvsl low and nobody else wants in.

It almost feels somehow as though Micah is following in Beckscum's shoes, at that time when the ex SwampRat 'advised' Kaka not to sign for City.

This whole Delph saga is leaving a very nasty, sour taste in the mouth and I just wish City would be able to come out with a statement revealing exactly what did happen and to what extent we wanted to sign the player in the first place, if at all.

However, that's not our style so the media and footballing world can now have a good laugh at our expense with all sorts of stories and revelations (quite probably made up).

Talking about revelations, but on an entirely different note, the other day I was watching Sky news just prior to having to go out of the house. The programme was running into an advertisement break and the announcers said "When we come back, we'll reveal why David Silva doesn't want to finish his career at City".

As I say, I had to go out and so I missed it but did anyone else see it and, if so, what was it all about ??

What??!! He was asked a question by the press and answered saying that he didn't want to advise Delph one way or another because he didn't want the responsibility if things didn't work out for Delph at City. What the fuck is wrong with that?

City won't release statements about this kind of stuff, I don't believe.

The rumour 'over there' was that this was not as straightforward as was being reported everywhere, which I just assumed was bollocks but it turned out the rumour was right. That same source said City were expecting him for a medical & it was expected to go through, then there was indeed a sudden change, for some reason.

But the same source is saying Sterling is sorted, so let's hope it's got both right.

Chill the fuck out. The ONLY players we need to bring in are players that are better than what we have. Delph is not better than what we have. Kids provide the filler.

I am already super confident we are going to smash the league this year.

Sterling. Yes. Pogba. Yes. Sorted.

He's better than Fernando. And the ghosts of Milner and Lampard.

Currently, we are weaker than we were last season.

Correct and by bringing in an Englishman my hope was we would buy better than sterling. Long shot but I had hope. This window has time to change but has been shit thus far. I'm not confident of the league and they're all getting older while we're miles off a cl run.

Have you actually read what he said or just a bit of it?? If you can't see for yourself what is wrong with it I'm not going to waste my time. Is there something wrong with saying "I haven't spoken to Fabian about City" and keeping it private as to not add fuel to an already burning fire that the media have against City?

He means if we bought Delph we could go and buy a top class foreigner instead of Sterling (although I don't agree with his opinion of Sterling).
