I think their international record is rightly taken into account alongside club goals scored when putting them into the top striker bracket.

When people mention the top strikers ever no one mentions Shearer. As I say, unless you’re English.

Just like Messi’s poor international record doesn’t effect his reputation.

He's not got a poor international record Mase, it's a myth. He's Argentina's leading all time scorer. He's not revered there like Maradona as he left for Barcelona when he was so young but his international stats are fantastic

All simply untrue, those unspecified "non-English" individuals you cite are clearly not very well informed and as already been pointed out, Messi has scored 81 goals in 161 international appearances, making him the country's all-time top scorer.

Only 81 in 161? How many did he have for Barca?

Quite a lot more I'd imagine but he did have Xavi & Iniesta etc to help ;)

I think this has legs.
Thinking about top strikers of the 90s, Shearer doesn't come in mind like Inzaghi, Batistuta, Ronaldo, Romario, etc.

But I think he was quite decent. Better than Owen by a country mile.

Exactly that mate. All the ones you’ve mentioned are winners everywhere they went. They played on the big stage. Unlike Shearer.

Anyway, good luck to Jesus if he decides to go and win nothing at Arsenal.

I don't get the reluctance here. If Jesus thinks he is top dog, for example. Then surely he would want to be in the best PL squad proving time after time that he should be starting . At least he answered that recently , with four good goals in a game . Competition for places is very healthy.

I think he lost the plot a while ago. He started posting pouting selfies on Instagram, but like several per day. Really weird guy.
