Sky forced to apologise to us on air -

Sky Sports presenter Simon Thomas was forced to apologise to Manchester City live on air after comments made by pundit Tim Sherwood on Soccer Saturday.

Speaking ahead of City's clash against Chelsea on Saturday, former Tottenham and Aston Villa boss Sherwood discussed Pep Guardiola's men making three signings this month after the arrivals of Omar Marmoush, Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov.

Sherwood questioned how City were "the only club who could spend money" despite their 115 charges by Premier League over allegedly breaking financial rules.

He said: "They seem to be the only team who can spend money and they’ve got 115 [charges] over their head."

When asked by fellow pundit Paul Merson if he felt City would be given a transfer embargo if they are handed a punishment by the Premier League, he added: Perhaps yeah, they must know something.

These players they’ve brought in are certainly for now and the future. They’re trying to build for the future, they made a mistake by not buying in the summer. If there’s players available they will go and get them, even if they have to pay over the top, they don’t care. Man City make their own rules up."

Following an ad break, Thomas said: "Welcome back, before we get underway, the whistles going around the country, we had a conversation earlier today in the build up about Manchester City, their transfer business.

There was a comment made about Manchester City and the rules. I just want to say that they are absolutely not the views of Sky Sports and we apologise to Manchester City for those comments."

I guessing City got straight on this and contacted them as this is something they’d have said and got away with in the past.

The history books will say Leyton Orient led their thrilling FA Cup fourth-round tie with Premier League champions Manchester City for 40 minutes because of a Stefan Ortega own goal.
Forget that.
To anyone lucky enough to be there to witness it - a tie Man City recovered to win 2-1 - Leyton Orient scored thanks to a wonder strike from Jamie Donley.
It was the Tottenham loanee who seized on the loose ball after City midfielder Nico Gonzalez had the ball taken off him just inside the visitors' half. It was Donley who spotted Ortega off his line and executed a quite brilliant 50-yard chip that sailed over the City goalkeeper.
Yes, the ball struck the bar and only crossed the line because it hit Ortega as the German failed to regain his balance after trying to make the initial save. It was Donley's goal.

Our friend Simon Stone at the BBC

The record books will show it as an OG because that’s what it fucking was. A grade A rag cunt

Truly gobsmacked one is black or disabled as that's what the BBC has come to. Although it is bad enough it's two women

I've no problem with Gabby to be fair

Nope neither have i. Not mithered about Kelly. Just glad it isn't one of the others Alex Scott aside. What i don't like is that most male sports have a majority of females hosting and being pundits

Jamie Carragher’s Mrs is now on the overlap. Saw a clip from an interview between her and Dalglish’s daughter.

What the fuck has football become? If it wasn’t for my daughters I’d have fucked this sport off a few years ago.

Great point by Shearer at MOTM about VAR not showing the ref the right angles at the Rags vs Everton game.

A definite penalty from the pull of the shirt but if Young hadn't tried to gild the lily with his trademark dive he might have got it. The angle and sequence showed to the ref was the last touch by Maguire and Young diving. Ref should have had the bollocks to ask for the full sequence

Finally someone has the balls to say it.
Jon Obi Mikel about Carragher>
“The Africa Cup of Nations is as big [as the Euros], I’ve played in it and won it. It’s not in his f—–g place to discredit the AFCON. He sits there week in, week out teaching and coaching people on how to win the Premier League and he never won it!”
“He can f— off! He’s never won the league. He analyses teams and tells them how to win it but you’ve never won it. You don’t know what it takes to win the f——g Premier League”

Very well put indeed. But he can kiss goodbye to any Sky work :D

I'm still wondering how he is still employed after that spitting business

To be fair, AFCON might be big in Africa but sorry John we’re in England. It’s not big here, no one gives a fuck about it. Everyone is pissed off when they lose their players in January because of it. The fact the seasons still carried on when players went off to play for their countries says it all

100%

It's championship standard at best for the most part.

Played in front of sparse crowds and even less viewers on TV

It's a dogshit tournament and for once I agree with Carragher
