We paid 10 million.

Undisclosed, widely believed to be £5m at the time with add ons potentially bringing it up to £12m.

But it's just being reported by the media, who we all know talk out of their Arsenal.

20m? In this market and going to a top PL side from a PL side? That number seems a bit low.

I'd say 35-40m, but the surcharge due to competition and lack of available options is pushing the price up.

Laporte and Bonucci are the only other real options I think we have, I can think of.

I wonder if someone like Neven Subotic might be worth considering...Phips permitting, of course ??

Phips can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe injuries have done him in. Never the same.

Thanks for that update chum; looks like it's back to the drawing board for me.

On that basis, a couple of short term names (both now just turned 30) :- Diego Godin and Ezequiel Garay ??.

Also a slightly younger name I've mentioned before in Simon Kjaer ??.

Whatever it was if we sell him for a pittance it shows that we're desperate to build up the war chest for a couple of tectonic signings :)

I was undergoing a bout of sneezing when I read your post JC and because of that I, inadvertently, took 'tectonic' to be 'teutonic' and Robert Lewandowski's name immediately came to mind.

I suppose he would be suitably "tectonic" but highly improbable. On that basis, if you were a gambling man, who would you reckon we might be targeting ??

I don't think those Teutonic Knights were that popular in Poland at one time - but I guess things may have changed these days. :D

If we start selling off the family silver cheap it can only be to bankroll a couple of earth movers - Mbappe I hope rather than Sanchez or Messi but a world class Teutonic midfielder wouldn't go amiss as well - Kroos, Weigl or young Mahoud Dahoud.

Couple of papers now reporting that Walker will be signed for £40m by the end of the month! What's everyone's thoughts? I think he is very pacy and strong but I'm not sure about his end product. I'd actually prefer us to sign Trippier instead

Also being reported that we are looking at Jerome Boateng again? Personally it still leaves a bad taste in the mouth that he used us as a skipping stone to go to Bayern. I would have loved to have seen Kompany and Boateng make a partnership together!

signing Dahoud would be quite the feat considering he's already signed for Dortmund.

Sterling took the piss out of him this season and he had to shove Sterling. Walker wouldn't get away with that at City. That's he same Sterling that most City fans don't think is good enough.

If Liverpool are really going to spend 60 million plus 200k a week on VVD good luck to them. Other fish in the sea. Maybe he's worried Kompany Stones would be first choice.

I think we've been spoiled by the speed with which we got Bernardo Silva. Most of these top level transfers are ballsachingly difficult. Not that many top top players for the positions we want to strengthen and plenty of competition. A bit of patience and trust called for. Txiki and co will be judged at the end of the window although getting players in for a full pre season will make such a difference to Pep.

What with Virgil telling us to stuff our £200k a week and leaving us for Klopp on half pay, Mbappe staying at Monaco and signing for Madrid for £117.5m both at the same time and all our other nailed on signings falling off in the international break - it's a very bleak Monday on Citywatch.

Please let the dippers spunk £50/60m and a further 6/7m a year on wages on VVD.

We're being subjected to multiple snubbings JC.

Signing Silva can only be regarded as a flash in the pan........ ;)
