However, all an outsider sees is someone disrespecting a tragedy, which is no different than the rags singing about hillsborough, people hissing at spurs or the racist abuse of adebayor.
There's no need for it and, frankly, it shows the club and the fans up. We've shown how good we can be at the swamp a few years back or anfield a few weeks ago, so why ruin it?
This may have got lost in all the posts and I think it sums up how I feel about the whole thing as well.

Chinners wrote:Can't believe this bollox causes such polar uproar still. For me the term long ago ceased to be about the disaster, merely a reference as a wind-up (in a similar way that they get called rags) .... which seems to be working well on alot of our fans as well now.

When I go to a game, especially an away game Im singing my head off with "Munich this, Munich that"
I couldnt give a fuck. 1958 fuck that I was born 30 years later, none of the people on that plane I even knew.
Svensational wrote:WHO PUT THE BALL IN THE MUNICHS NET....YAYAYAYAYA TOURE. Fucking quality song if you ask me, I bet them rags were fucking livid last night watching that.
ant london wrote:Although I wholly accept that the song/word is in awful taste and references a genuine tragedy (yes, one in which an ex-Blue died) I also know that it is one of the only references we can level at "them" which genuinely upsets them. It doesn't make most united fans react in a "oh you are despicable and tasteless" way....it gets a "you fucking CUNTS" out of them and that is exactly what people who use it want.
It is meant to be unpleasant and it is.

Do those who think it's ok to sing Munich songs also think Foe and Hillsborough victims are fair game and there to be mocked?

You could turn that on it's head and ask how scum fans can be so upset about Munich songs when they happily sing about Heysel, Foe, Bill Shankly, Russian submarines, Leeds fans in Turkey, etc etc etc.....
It's part of football rivalry, it might not be very pleasent but it exists and City fans are far from being the worst culprits.

The difference being that I'm not remotely interested in how they go about making themselves look bad. But I am interested in chants which make me/we/our club look bad.

If they do, lets hope we don't draw Bayern M***** in Europe next season!

Looks like Hannover might stop them even getting there next season!
