That is the nub of it really, you just cannot use the word 'black', even in Terry's defence that he merely repeated the word that he alleges Anton says. Evra was the same whilst days later video's are posted up of him using the N word himself, it's double standards in a way. You can use the word cunt, fat, tall, short, smelly and all manner of other descritive words except colour .... for me the issue is intent using a word to abuse which in esscence is what Terry is saying he didn't use it in that context as meaning ..... it's a very shades of grey area tbh, an uncomfortable one at that.

For what its worth I took it that Beanie was joking but thats just my interpretation based on his other posts. It may have been a joke in bad taste and poorly executed but a joke nevertheless.

The fact of the matter here is it is no longer socially acceptable behaviour. It never was for some people, however, society in the UK allowed it to be acceptable and this has changed in recent years and is now a no go area. So the Chelsea captain can go and fucloff if he thinks he can get away with it.

Where will it stop? I personally think its going way too far and even had one of my team accused of racism by a parent of an opposition side last season. The only person who heard it was this parent even though there were several people closer to the lad than him and the ref was two yards away. One word against another and without having been over that side to be in the vicinity of earshot, what can you do? Some people do it and try and cover it up when confronted, some people make it up for attention....

I don't agree with that at all.

If someone does it out of exasperation, it's because they've been surrounded by it either in real life or tv/media. I swear occasionally if I hurt my thumb, my laptop battery dies mid-email, etc. Doesn't mean I'm naturally foul-mouthed.

If someone does it to provoke someone else, or in a calm, collected manner, or continually uses a particular word/phrase, then that is an indicator of racist tendencies.

Is Terry a racist? No (in my opinion).

Did Terry racially abuse someone? Yes.

It's the latter of the two he's on trial for. So therefore he should be guilty.

It's a minefield of a subject thou and open to interpretaition on many levels. The fact this case even got to court is thb quite fightning considering that the Suarez/Evra one didn't ... maybe it's because they are both English

If I'm not mistaken this case went to court as a member of public made a complaint to the police whereas Evra complained to the FA.

In Scotland this would be "not proven" rather than a guilty or not guilty.
