Hmm... Valid point I completely forgot about his injuries. Prevented him going to the euros didn't it? Surely a world class poacher would suit 3rd striker? Maybe Gomez but he wouldn't be happy as a sub. Could win us games with one or two touch/es when needed against parking the bus teams at 80mins.

I would like us to unearth a new talent. They are out there & Txiki will be aware of most. But I suppose we'll end up signing one of the usual suspects.

Another option is someone like Jovetic who scores a decent number of goals but can play the Isco role & is very adaptable .

Fairly certain Fiorentina will make Napoli look like a pleasure to deal with.

Having a third striker shouldn't even be up for the debate, it's a must if we are to compete on three or four fronts next season.

Look what happened Aguero in the first game last time out. If we only have him, Dzeko and a half crocked Guidetti then we're fucked imo.

Losing Tevez and Balotelli I can handle but not replacing at least one of them will have me very worried.

Kolarov: I want out of City
27 Jun 2013 07:28

Blues defender eager to follow Carlos Tevez and join Juventus

Aleks Kolarov wants to follow Carlos Tevez out of the City exit door and join Juventus.

The Serbian left back has told the Blues that the lack of first-team opportunity is the reason he wants to go, and he is not expecting the change of manager to change his own situation.

Juve tied up the £12.8million deal for Tevez after he passed his medical in Turin – and are now set to go back to City in the hope of taking Kolarov.

Early indications are Juve want the defender on loan, and that is unlikely to interest City, who would need to replace him as cover for Gael Clichy.

Said Kolarov: “I’m in contact with my agent, and soon we will understand what may happen.

“I am happy at City but want to play regularly as I said to Roberto Mancini.”

Like Tevez, Kolarov says he is prepared to take a pay cut: “Money is not everything in life and I have no problem in revising my salary. Simply, I want a place in the starting line-up.”

Tevez was mobbed when he arrived in Turin yesterday, and was pictured holding a team shirt at Juve’s headquarters and withing four hours had signed up for the Old Lady.

City are weighing up options for a possible replacement but are in no rush.

The Blues have dropped their interest in Napoli’s Edison Cavani since Manuel Pellegrini succeeded Mancini, but will monitor the situation, especially as the Uruguayan’s £54m release clause expires on August 10.

City will also review their scouting reports on young, promising strikersand Pellegrini wants to assess 21-year-old striker John Guidetti, to see if he could become the Blues’ third striker alongside Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko.

Pellegrini tried to sign Guidetti on loan from City when he was manager at Malaga.

City midfielder Gareth Barry, whose own future at the Etihad is in doubt, said that Tevez will be greatly missed.

“Carlos will be a massive loss for City,” he said. “He had a fantastic few years there.”

Guidetti missed most of last season with a career threatening illness & was hoping to use this break to try & get himself match fit, but instead has been sidelined by a knee injury. From what I'm hearing, Guidetti's race is run, at least with us.

A couple of mates have mentioned it to me separately. Don't know what their sauce is but I think it's something to do with him being seriously injured again. However, that report a couple of posts up suggest otherwise.

I say we need 4 strikers. Buy one and promote another, either way have 4 trusted strikers you can call on

He has picked up a knee injury which will set him back but nothing I've heard suggests it's career threatening.

It's a terrible pity because he had just stated how he was going to work & work every day through the summer to make sure he was in perfect condition, then that happened.

I really hope he gets a chance & that people are patient with him if he is a bit iffy initially. He has ability & he is the sort of bloke who, if the manager tells him he has a fault, will stay on the training ground until he perfects it.

I reference to the thread I started on free kicks, Guidetti is the kind of bloke who would spend all day, every day practicing them if it was needed. He deserves an opportunity & a bit of time.

Take this how you will but Daniel Taylor was being questioned on Twitter yesterday about Tevez' replacement and in the exchange he mentioned it's "not happening" for Guidetti.

On t'other hand Stu Brennan says in his article this morning that Pellers is yet to assess Guidetti's situation.

I really hope it works out for him but I really am fearing the worst now.

I think (hope) he's just answering the question re whether Guidetti would be played in place of Tevez. Even if the Count trusted Guidetti for that job, I shouldn't think he would be fit in time for the start of the season anyway.

Probably nothing but they've changed Scott Sinclair from midfielder to striker on the website. Hope this isn't our solution

I though we should see what The Count makes of players like Sinclair, Garcia and Rodwell before we make judgements. All of them were either injured or grossly misused/underused last season and I think we should give them the benefit before writing them off.

More grist for the mill when it came to deciding Mancini's fate in May. Whether he wanted them here or not, you don't simply ignore other options when your regulars are almost dead with fatigue, or hopelessly out of form. Scott Sinclair, for example, would have been a reasonable alternative to Silva for many a final 20 minutes last season. Unless, that is, he was so useless in training that he fell over every time he touched the ball, or kept booting the ball into his own net.

I have the highest hopes for Rodwell if he stays fit for any length of time. Likewise Garcia, if he's played to his strengths. Difficult to make a judgement on Sinclair as I've never seen him play.

Were turning defense in to attack.. a bit too literal for my liking.

This Sinclair as striker might not be the worst idea ever though IMO. If hes in the last quarter of the field with the ball it means hes had less time and space to fuck it up. That can only be a good thing.

My biggest concern now is keeping Aguero 1. Fit and 2. On his feet.
