Arsenal, notoriously, don't sell their best assets for the best money (Cole to Chelsea for 5mil plus Gallas, Henry for a mere 16mil to Barcelona in the same close season that Darren Bent went to Sp*rs for the same money, RvC to Man Yoo for a cut price 22mil during a summer in which he was widely considered the 3rd best player in the world)

If we had Daniel Levy, we'd play hard ball. Not only would we not sell, we'd perhaps make a mockery of him in his very last season with us. Either overplay him (which is more likely given that this boy loves playing) or make him for in the reserves. The way we are right now, we'd sell and do nothing with the 50mil. Buy some magic beans or the like.

Not to sound spoilt as a football fan but these are slightly testing times at Arsenal right now :(

Why spend the money when you can add to your notorious "war chest" ;)

Or have the directors take it out of the club as a "special dividend"

If he does come I hope he performs better than he has in the Confed cup, or indeed, most of last season for the Gooners.

Yeah, how dare he want to play for one of the best club sides ever over us, didn't he know we'd just won the FA Cup.

As for last season, 24 goals and 11 assists in 36 league start, nowhere near good enough.

You're right in all you say FIBD but, in spite of that, I still don't want him at City and I'm siding with Sideshow Bob on this one.

To my mind, his transfer to us doesn't feel 'right' for various reasons.

Trouble is, if the FA are ever serious about clamping down on players 'talking' to the referee, individuals such as Shrek will still get away with it, but this will be the slightest excuse the FA will need to throw the book at us.

'One law for one.....' etcetera.

Every football fan hated Bellers unless he played for their team.

So you don't believe the reports that they are no longer in for him due to wages/apparent interest in joining us from the player?

I think, in Doug's case, the wish is father to the hope. Anyway word is his wish has been granted :D

Marca are reporting that Lyon president has said that lacazette to Gooners "all but complete"

The fee is between €45 & €50M

Let's see what happens now....

Daily Star implies they are also going to sell Alexis (for £70m) to fund signing Lemar from Monaco.

Will Alexis sign a contract extension? Highly unlikely. Are the Arsenal board prepared to piss away 50 million for a one year contract? Highly unlikely. Could he go to Bayern? Clearly possible but would they really want him if he strongly wants to move elsewhere? I still rate our chances at at least evens.
