Didn't see anyone reply to yr question Florida, so in case you're still wondering, finishing first means we avoid playing the other teams who topped their groups plus some teams who finished 3rd in their Champions League group who now drop into Europa League and will be seeded as group winners. Basically we avoid the strong teams in the next round.

We also play at home in the second leg of the next round, which is deemed an advantage as you know what you have to do to get through.

Seems the Old Lady is being given some respect.

Nothing new in Turin, getting a penalty there is almost as hard as getting it at the swamp...

When they start winning again, yes. Glory hunters will go back to support Juve when the Inter period is finished.

You forget AC Milan, mate! With new signing of Cassano this shall be the best squad of Italy in the next 3 or 4 years! My own derby in Champions League just 32 years after the Paul Powers 'legendary score in San Siro ... what a life for me!!!

No, I don't forget Milan, mate, I'm just saying all those "fans" who have been supporting Inter since they rose and Juve fell due to Calciopoli, will go back to supporting Juve when Inter goes back down into being an average team, especially if Juve start competing for Italian and European honours again.

P.S. do Milan really need Cassano? They already have Ibra, Robinho, Pato, Ronaldinho...someone has got to stay out and whoever of them has this happening to him won't be happy and maybe create tensions in the dressing room.

I'm sure that Renato, Roger or CFFR will correct me if I'm wrong but Torino/Juventus are very much like the cliche (which we all know is actually nonsense about City and United fans).

Juventus are massively supported in the whole of Italy (and overseas) like the munes.....I'm sure they have a decent fanbase in Turin itself (just like united do in Manchester) but many of their gloryhunters/daytripper fans were likely put off by the prospect of trips out to watch games in Serie B against teams they had never heard of and still haven't "turned back on" due to the fact that the Old Lady has not had any real success since Caliopolli and getting back into the top flight and has a team largely bereft of any genuine superstars (of the current day at least).

I'm sure that the move from their "home" to the ground of their rivals for a couple of years hasn't helped matters but I think that it's the lack of success and star names that is keeping away their traditional matchday fanbase.

That said, the reason they moved away from Delle Alpi to have it redeveloped was to make the ground smaller as their crowds were never exactly amazing (plus they had the running track around the pitch which they are removing to produce a stadium that I heard was intended to be a bit more "English" in the ability to create atmosphere and intensity).....so all in all not exactly a shock that their turnout was totally poxy for an irrelevant game (from their perspective at least).

You got the gist of it more or less. Especially with the gloryhunters part. They abandoned Juve when the team was relegated, and haven't come back yet as Juve still hasn't had success since then.

You're also spot on on the crowd never being astounding so the new Delle Alpi will be smaller, possibly with an external sponsorship (I think that was the talk, you know, like Arsenal with the Emirates, but i'm not sure the sponsorship actually happened).

I'd love if the Stadio Olimpico in Rome were to be redeveloepd without the runnign track, now that would be an atmosphere as it's often full in big games, and 80k people singing would create an hell of an intensity, lol.

Absolutely spot on and well informed, Mate.
Only slight difference is that munes may be entitled some "native" support in Salford, while Juventus is only the Agnelli Family personal toy, that have collected the attention of all glory-hunters/football fans from Italian counties which never had a local Club steadily playing a serious role into italian pro footy. It's not a case that the most mafioso Club of the world is so popular within the Mafia's native lands... :-)

Even only the idea of a comparision between the unconditionated, passionate supports the Giallorosso People gives and always have given to Their Club and the italian cover of the rags is a nonsense.

Yeah, I know mate; Juventus' support has always been quite dire in terms of atmosphere at the stadium, which is the main reason they are redeveloping the Delle Alpi; it was sad to always see the stadium half empty; hopefully, one day Roma will have its own stadium built like the English ones, even if it won't have an 80k capacity, still it would have an awesome atmosphere.
