I dont think the rags and Barce can really afford him !! Its just a ploy to get our bid up. We should slam down £30,000,000 and say 'like it or lump it' if they dont like it, we should look elsewhere. They will be gutted that they ost out on the cash.

Its just a pity that this guy really does look good !! like it would be hard to look elsewhere!!

The throught of Tevez,Silva and this guy in attack looks very pleasing !!

According to the geezer on Talkshite, Barca haven't offered enough money. He was suggesting that Sanchez would have to really kick up shit if he wants Barca, like Mascherano did at Liverpool.

We probably haven't bid that much yet. We'll only bid what we need to. Udinese are trying to get an auction going & I should imagine that if we are willing to pay enough we will get Sanchez. If not, he'll go to Barca or rags if we aren't willing to significantly blow them away.

Imo, if Bob really wants him desperately we'll get him. If not we'll walk away when we reach our max valuation & sign someone else.

My feeling on this is that it's not just a Mancini want, but more of a club one.

The thing with Sanchez is that e cost Udinese 16 mil to buy and they've made the CL qualifiers. From that, and if you were the boss, you'd be looking at enough money to compensate for the loss of one of their star players who could take them into the lucrative group stages.

That is unless a major force came in and left them no option.

Just been readind this from Strefano Antonelli - Udinese Transfer Consultant:

“There are five clubs who are doing everything to get hold of him: Barcelona, Manchester City, United and two Italian clubs," Antonelli revealed.

"The offers have all come from these clubs. We don't want to create a bidding war, but he is the big name on the transfer market at the moment and everyone wants him.

"Over the next few days we should learn where Sanchez will go. We wanted to keep hold of the player, but when there is an important offer, it should be evaluated fully."

“All the clubs we talked about have a chance of signing him, but right now my feeling is that he's more likely to go abroad," he said.

"Barcelona's very powerful push on to the scene has changed the scenario somewhat."

I recon he's a pure Bob signing and either he'll refuse to go anywhere but Barca, in which case we'll pull out very very soon, or he'll sign for the highest bidder, ie us. Udinese will probably try to keep the deal going for a while in the hope that someone outbids us & makes us up our bid. Once they realise nobody will gazump us, they'll take our money. HOWEVER, if they wait too long, Bob will move on to plan B as he wants these things sorted as soon as poss. Imo there are other players with similar potential out there.

Plenty mate and I'm sure we'll find out either way soon. We still haven't got the clout of certain clubs and I'm sure we're trying to get away from the 100-200 grand a week contracts with the FFP coming into force (that is if it's still in force with all of Chelsea's spending).

Tbh it has already been stated that there will be a certain amount of leeway with the FFPR, including warnings rather than immediate bans, so I wonder if Chelsea are arsed about it. Imo, we shouldn't worry too much about it either. So long as we can show a business plan for increasing revenue I recon we should just get the players in now, increase the success/profile of the club, take the slapped wrists & by then, all the players we don't want will be off the books making way for the new wages.

Even if they eventually banned us for a season, our side would be good enough to get top 4 or win the league & be back in the following year. By that time, we could have a load of 'academy' players (signed from all over the world) ready to come through or we could have had Platini shot or poisoned.

i'm pretty sure if sanchez comes, tevez is gone. there's no way they're justifying mancini shelling out another £25m+ on another striker with dzecko, balo, tevez, someone is going to have to make way. and i think we all know that tevez's heart just ain't in it 100% these days.

Sanchez is a winger, attacking MF, support striker, whatever...but he's not a true #9. His signing should have no effect on whether Carl stays.

Exactly; in Udinese he plays behind the lone striker in a 3-4-2-1 formation, exploiting his incredible pace and acceleration to tear defences apart when he gets the ball; he's perfect for a counterattacking side because you let the opposition come on you, get the ball back and quickly give it to him, 9 times out of 10 he's going to end one on one with the keeper and score, or he will play an assist to a supporting teammate who then just has to tap the ball in.

The key to Sanchez being a success here or in Spain will be whether he can learn to keep possession & use the ball a bit better. He wastes too much ball to be fully effective in either league at the moment. It won't take much improvement at all for him to do that but it's the difference between the real top players & the also rans. Or Ryan Giggs & SWP.

If Bob ( or Sir Baconface) can drill that into him, then there's no telling how good he can become. I think Bacon or Bob would be ideal managers for him. I doubt Barca will bother working with him if he struggled; they'd just drop him to the bench if he doesn't do it by himself, & sign someone else next season.

The transfer is stalled for two reasons.

1 - Barca are trying to assess if Arsenal will part with fabregas for a modest sum before they rule him out completely.

2 - If cesc isn't on they'll try to play hardball with Udinese and try to cough up funds to land both sanchez and Rossi.
