Nowhere near good enough for where we are going..but I'll trust Bob for now on this one

He proved me wrong with Micah..

Well Bob is talking about signing defenders at Christmas so he probably doesn't trust him either at this stage. I'm a lot more optimistic after tonight but not at CB. I've said before now; if he plays CB against a quality striker, we'll lose unless we score 3 or 4. (I said that well before we played QPR btw & Jay Bothroyd doesn't count! )

Looks like Bob trusts him and Savic repaid his trust. Good on the ball as usual and did plenty of good defending against a quality opposition

Thought he was gash in the first 25, did OK after that.

He did very well as an emergency fullback - I hope we get Zabs and Micah back soon though (or that Savic gets more time to train in that position)

He did very well tonight, obviously not an attacking fb like Micah, though from his positioning up the pitch idsay he was asked to try. Thought he looked solid and even more comfortable in possession than Micah

Good performance tonight, any chance he was bought as a fullback though?

Perhaps somewhere you'll find one of my posts that mentions how I recon he's a fullback & not a centre back and note how, in the one you quoted, I'm referring to him playing at CB, where, imo, he's been utter shite in most games I've seen him both for City & Montenegro. If he plays there v a good team he will fuck up.

Looked perfectly at home at fullback & seemed much more keen to get involved in winning balls and defending, rather than watching others do it. Also showed once again that he's got a good touch on the ball & imo is worth a try in a def midfield position. Very pleased for him & happy we may find a use for him other than a bloody awful CB.

Sorry my mistake: he was fucking brilliant for Montenegro v England & they didn't suddenly look twice as good when he was moved to fullback after looking like a pub team when he played CB. Also, Jay Bothroyd is a footballing legend & nobody could have marked him better than Savic.

He looks comfortable to accomplished on the ball. That's a good start. He hasn't got the experience. that's about it. Those saying he will never be any good are just saying that. He needs to learn though there is no doubt. Simple really. Give him some time ad trust in the management.

I'm trusting in the management to buy at least one centre back in Jan. Savic has shown no evidence whatsoever that he can play that position so far. The purpose of this season is to win stuff, not to risk losing games whilst we try to turn Savic into a Prem Lg CB. If he's not good enough then we need somebody who is, in order to back up Lescott & Vinny. Kolo wants to leave.

Savic has (last night) shown evidence he can play fullback (if he improves his forward play), which is where he was often playing before we signed him. Play him there & let him learn the game.

thought he did well at right back last night, but if we want a micah back up i'd say our system dictates it needs to be someone who's much better going forward. i too fully expect us to buy a centre half in jan, so his short term chances might be few and far between anyway.

When he was moved from CB to RB v England though, he looked pretty good coming forward & put in a Beck*** style cross for their goal. He may possibly be a lot better going forward than he showed last night.

well, he's actually 5 years younger than ned.
savic is a top young player, he needs to learn aerial game and he will be spot on. want to see him playing alongside boyata in the future.

If he could become dominant in the air then he could be a quality CB but imo, the same thing could be said of Ned; he can't play CB for a top side because he gets raped in the air by Peter Crouch etc. Ned was never able to sort that, so has to play fullback, where his heading ability for that job is decent. Unfortunately, his touch isn't so good.

Savic just looks like a fullback to me & is being shoehorned into being a CB.

Thought he was a liability last night. Looked likely to give a foul away every time he challenged for the ball. I've defended him and am not going to slag him off now, but I still don't think he's ready, as he's likely to give a lot away

With Kolarov out, I presume Mancini will rotate Clichy and Zab so that means Savic rotating with Richards. That's a concern.

Liability? That's harsh. As I said elsewhere, Olic was the liveliest Bayern player by far last night. Savic did alright & even got a booking out of him. Everything went through their left side, as Alaba & Pranjic are naturally left sided players, but had to play on the right & through the middle respectively.
