I'm not surprised Chelsea are getting rid of lukaku. Unless its some massive foreign player who they paid 25 million + for regardless of quality they just seem to fuck over. They never bothered with Sturridge who is miles better than Torres now. Lukaku did a good job for west brom and is young but is getting palmed off. It is like a sideshow. The logical thing would be to cut your losses with Torres and build using you're other strikers. I can see ba not getting games either.

I would love to have Lukaku at City. He was superb at West Brom last season and looks like he's going to turn into a star.

If Chelsea ever decided to get rid, then I'd hope we'd be after him. Although I doubt they would sell to a rival.

Never bothered with Sturridge? He played 43 games for them season before last. It was Rafa Benitez who didn't bother with him.

And Jose sent Lukaku on loan. He is still only 20.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

This is the season Lukaku proves himself, but loaning out a striker for two years after you bought him, can't say I'd sign an extension to that contract when the time comes.

We did the same thing with Yo Hart and look how that turned out.

For one season, when he already had 66 appearances under his belt for the club. (Yes I know he went on a couple of month long loans). This was a kid we paid £100K for, not a striker we paid £17M for.

Ozil is a good player but when are people going to realise that we can't sign every single player that is sold in the transfer window? I think our signings have been good, and we haven't even seen Jobetic, who arsenal wanted all of last season.

Also fail to see how the Barry decision is now a catastrophe after all the grief he gets. I refer you to the FA cup final. So far we're only played Fernandinho and Toure in there. We have options in Rodwell and probably Millner, so not a disaster.

The only thing I'd criticise us for is letting Kolo leave. We always needed experienced cover in that position and he said he was happy to be that man and just wanted another contract.

OK. TRansfer window open and closed. After all the will they wont they etc. Who has the team with the most potential to be heading the PM come the opening of the Jan window?

As an aside, at work we had a sweep stake to name top 3 bottom 3 and first manager to move on

Me, I went for:

City
Chelsea
Arsenal
(RAGS wouldn't feature even if it were top 5)

Villa
Hull
Crystal Palace

Loudrop

Let the premier league now start in earnest

Looks like they've also got Contreao or however you spell it from Real on loan. Bizarre, since they said he wasn't for sale earlier today, but willing to let him go to a CL rival?

rumours and only rumours that there is an issue with the paperwork on the Contreao deal. Also rumours that the rags approached Galatasary for Wes Schneider and were told to do one.

It is remarkable how the rags have so publicly failed with so many of their targets during the summer window - oh well.....

i know its breaking my heart ,sob sob ,shows what players think of Moyes ,i reckon baconface would of got in a quality signing
bit pissed off we've let Barry go still could of done a job for us ,but surely he wants games

Delighted the rags paid £27 million for Felliani. They have vastly over-paid on a very average player. Barry will fill his vacant role at Everton with ease.

Nothing to fear at all from the scum this summer, it all ended how we knew it would, overpaying for Felliani.

Bacon must be looking at all this and thinking what the fuck. Hilarious.

Felaini's main asset is heading a football.

Of course he can be useful on the ground too, but his main asset & his only true top level quality, is winning headers in midfield & upfront (he's not that great defending his own box when challenged by a half decent player).

I can't make any conclusion from this other than Moyes is Evertonising Utd. The fantasy of Fabregas/Modric etc creating a passing team at the Swamp was an interesting situation but this ? Fellaini is no mug at simple passing but he is not a real asset to pass & move football, he is not quick, his tackles are of the mistimed/ red card variety & he doesn't protect the defence anymore than Yaya or Fernandinho do (apart from headers).

His most successful job for Everton is 2nd striker who drops back & makes interceptions. Isn't that Rooney's job ?

That could be a problem for us, as we are shite v Everton, but it's not much of a problem for anyone else.

Looks like a 'gritty' version of Utd is next on the cards rather than the footballing evolution which was hinted at by the bullshit targets.

That's my take too, Ted. I'm hoping that history repeats itself and we will have the next Dave Sexton era at the Theatre of Increasing Desperation.

I would think Patrice Evra is feeling a little unloved at the moment, they desperately tried to replace him to no avail. I bet he sat there last night, watching SSN with a continual face-palm motion. Poor little fella!

You would think that Gollum would know what his release clause amount was, Kenwright stung them, or maybe Gollum knew and paid over the odds when the faced with no other option, anyway not that many will be loosing much sleep over it, but reeks of last minute desperation.
Even Arsenal did far better than them, and that’s saying something.

Ok, I don't usually go snooping about on other fans forums but I was bored and thought I'd see how the rags are judging their excruciatingly embarrassing transfer mis-dealings . . . . I bullshit ye not it's hilarious and I you need a good laugh then I recommend it for the comedy.
These are the words of a full member rag who, having had a good slap from reality, is writing with a modicum of stunned sense.
. . . I suppose that the lesson is that if you want sense from a rag then slap away.

Ahem;

When you act with at times, a breathtaking arrogance, you often get what you deserve in life. Manchester United have got everything they deserve out of this summer transfer window.

No clear transfer strategy
No major targets acquired
Ridiculous media statements resulting in the heightening of expectations and in turn pressure to deliver
Pissing off virtually every club we have contacted with at times appalling arrogance and lack of foresight
Overpaid embarrasingly on someone who should never have been the sole acquisition of note
Made Moyes a target for derision in his first few months
Probably unsettled and upset our best left-back, who incidentally was our best player at Anfield
Significantly reduced our positive reputation in European football, carefully upheld throughout Ferguson and Gill's tenures
Potentially damaged a young Spanish footballers' short-term career with amateurish actions & borderline contempt
Made the institution a target for uncomfortable criticism from the media and indeed our own supporters

Just when all we needed was a quiet few months post-Ferguson. Let's hope there is a positive reaction where it matters most...on the pitch.
Fucking joke....and yes.....embarrassing.
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.

Do you know, I was thinking exactly the same. Watching every one of their games so far I'd say that Evra has been pushing himself to the max and, for me, he's been their best player. Some of the stuff hasn't come off but he's really trying to push the team on.

What now though, after the various moves by Moyes would he really feel at home there, knowing that the rest are looking at him as a gonner.

Rather strange in my book and I can only guess he's on big money (he did get the armband didn't he).

Wasn't the intention though to play one of them as a left winger? Or so I've heard.

An amazing window for them honestly. Clear winners in the transfer window by heads and shoulders. They've built a team for the next 5 years on the back of the likes of Monkey boy, tom huddleston and Cocker basically....along with Scotty Parker and Dempsey.

Shrewd from the Heebs. Shrewd.

cheers

That's a big call, Doomy. I just hope they've improved enough to finish above arsenal.

A big call indeed - I'm not convinced to be honest. Some decent players though for this season a lot depends on how quickly they all settle in, they have midfielders in abundance - will they all play as often as they would like?

And 4 recognised strikers consisting of

Adebayor
Defoe
Kane
Soldado.

I've not been impressed by what little I've seen of Soldado for Spain. Both his prem goals were penners. Defoe may have an important role for them still. I know Lamela can also play up front.

I think the Arse will still finish above them this season
