James Milner's performances:

great
great
shit
great
great
great
great
shit
great
great
great
great

= shit in most peoples eyes.

Good players have shit games and thats ok. It doesn't make them shit.

James is the best player in the world at what he does - everything. We won't find a higher quality versatile player that puts in a shift as much as James does.

Give him what he wants and lets move on.

Cant see it Doug. Hope you are right but I think if he was going to sign anything it would have come pre-January. Now he can sit tight for 3 months and choose his next destination - likely Liverpool.

I really hope you're right Doug.

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

why he would go to Liverpool to sit behind Coutinho, Lucas, Henderson, Markovic, Sterling, and Sturridge…and maybe even Lallana..is beyond me. i think he leaves--i want him to stay--but i don't think it'll be Liverpool as he'd be in the same situation as here (or worse) but then not challenging for trophies.

If he signs for City, he pottentially loses a few million quid.

I think it's that simple.

I'd think about it as well. What does he get if he signs ? Who is coming in next season ? Will they play istead of him ? If so, is it worth losing a few million or should he go somewhere else, cash in, & play every week ?

Why does it have to be Liverpool ? He could maybe go & live in Milan, or Paris & be several mil better off.

If he signs for City, he loses money. I imagine his agent is trying to negotiate that. Don't forget though, the last time Milner spoke, he said he was waiting to hear from City, not the other way around. He said he hoped it would be sorted soon.

I have a feeling he may well go abroad. I dont understand the mentality of wanting to leave a club where he is a success, has a great chance of winning more trophies and earns a good wage with acceptable playing time if he is on form. To go to a club with less chances of picking up trophies on less money, but playing more minutes. Is it the huge singing on fee which appeals to him? He doesnt seem the sort of person that would bother with things like that.

I am really interested to understand what is going on, we will probably find out in 6 or 7 years when he releases his James Miner autobiography called "Interesting!"

Rumour of the day I heard - probably BS - is that Milner believes he was offered to Everton on part-ex for Barkley, and thus wont sign and will leave as a result ... allegedly.

Thse kind of rumours don't explain him saying he hoped to stay.

He covered the most ground of any Premier League player in a match this season at Stoke yesterday. Granted, by a slim margin, but the man's effort is never in doubt

I think those "I hope to stay" statements are playing to the crowd Ted, don't you? Hes hardly going to come out and say "Ive decided Im off in the summer, but will play out the string this year" as the crowd reaction to him would be a little more lukewarm don't you think?

I don't blame him for going, he wants to play more often and likely in central midfield too, which he hardly ever does here. He's served his time, gives max effort and has earned the right. However, can you name one player in recent memory who ran his contract down and then stayed at the same club when he was a free agent?

He doesn't have to say he wants to stay. He can just say his agent is talking to City & leave it at that.

Also if he played any more games, he'd be too fucked to run 13k.

If he leaves, it's down to money. The rest is just add ons.

Unless we've a kid lined up that can take his place we'd be hard pressed to find a better utility man in the premiership.
He ticks a lot of boxes. British, versatile, good engine, good attitude. You pay a premium for that.

So not only scoring vital goals, now breaking records, i can only imagine this is being dragged out by his agent (bacon faces son) as he only has Milner on his books!

James Milner breaks season record for distance covered in a single game.

Easiest life in the world that man. Bet he earns around £20k a week to basically just work out and have a kick about 4/5 times a week in a beautifully plush training facility for 3 or 4 hours a day at max. Then spends all his time shopping in relative anonymity (80% of City fans probably wouldn't notice him in the street if he passed them, never mind everyone else) with his no doubt glamorous wife.
