Juventus bid for Manchester City defender

Juventus have reportedly made an offer for Manchester City’s 27-year-old Serbian full-back Aleksandar Kolarov.

The former Lazio man has been linked with a move to the Old Lady for some time and it appears that the Turin side are now stepping up with their attempts to wrap up a deal for the player.

The Serbian’s time in Manchester appears to be coming to an end as he has publically complained about a lack of playing time and it is thought that the 27-year-old is keen on a return to Serie A.

According to Cheshire Today, the Bianconeri have sent the Premier League runners-up a bid of €12 million for the Serbian international, which is substantially less than the €18.6m the Citizens paid Lazio for Kolarov in 2010.

He has also received interest in Italy from Inter but Juve are favourites to sign the player as they can offer the glamour of Champions League football.

Kolarov started 11 times for City and came on as a substitute nine times during the 2012-13 Premier League season, scoring one goal.
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".

One hour ago, Madrid-Barcelona.com quoting Cadena Cope:

Watch out City are coming! The Sporting Director of City, Txiki Begiristain, will travel this very day to the Spanish capital to try to sign Pepe. Manuel Pellegrini is seeking a central defender and likes the Madrid player very much.

The former Malaga manager knows the Portuguese player to perfection as he managed him at Madrid and knows that he is a very complete footballer, capable of acting as the defensive axis or in midfield. With the emergence of Varane, it seems that the portuguese has been relegated to the second level and because of this Pellegrini is openeing the door for him to play in the first team of one of the biggest teams on the continent.

According to Cadena Cope the British club would offer 23 million euros to gain Pepe's services, money which Perez would invest in the signature of Gareth Bale.

Be that as it may, Ancelotti has already decalred on several accasions that pepe is very important to the first team, in which case it would seem to be very complicated for him to leave this summer. We will know in the next few days whether he will end up going to Manchester or, on the other hand, decides to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Pepe is a very good player and I don't think many would turn down the chance to sign him but I just don't see it coming off. Would Real really sell him? I think he's worth more to Ancelotti than a few quid towards Bale, especially if they are selling Tranny to the Rags ;-)

If Real want Bale & need to bring in money, then Ancelotti probably doesn't get a vote.

For all the bollox talked about Marwood/Tricky etc telling the managers who to sign, Real are a club who genuinely do operate like that. If you notice Pepe's quotes recently, he says it's upto 'the President' what happens to him, never even mentions the manager having a say.

If Tricky is genuinely going over there, then there is a chance he'll come back with Pepe. He wouldn't go over there just to ask if he was available. He would only go if there was a possibility of a deal.

Of course, he may actually be sat at Carrington having a coffee with Brian Kidd.

If he is really over there then I'd say he's coming back with Tranny rather than Pepe. I've read this morning that we are re-entering the race for his signature yet I never seen any race with any other team, just a tentative link by some political/religious radio station who are not Real alligned.

They've also got issues of their own at the back and if by losing Pepe puts them in even more trouble then I can't see it as a goer.

We'll see though, I'm sure Txiki is mulling it over as we speak.

i wonder what a Pepe signing will do to the growth and development of Nastastic, one of our only promising young players.

Lyon have come out and said Yoann Gourcuff would be willing to take a paycut to secure a move to Arsenal.

Looked a quality player a few years back being named french player of the year in 2009 but seems to have performed fairly badly since moving to Lyon.

I'm quite for it. I think he'd be decent and would bring some top quality competition for all the centre halves and also interesting to read in that article that he could screen in front. If Gaz Baz is sold then we cannot rely on yaya for that...not currently Garcia and using fernandinho there is a waste of his talents

I'd like to see Milner tried there to be honest but pepe potentially sounds like a viable option too

I'm also up for a new team nutter after the loss of Mario and Carlos

I would also like to see what Milner could do in that role. His work rate is fantastic and he is physically very strong so could easily adapt to that role i would imagine.I really like Milner but im not convinced when he plays out wide, he puts in a great shift but his delivery in to the box leaves a lot to be desired.

Just an observation on HG players, to see what happens if we sell Sinclair

6 HG players should be present in squad of 23, right now we have 7. So if Sinclair is sold, we would not want to sell Lescott, even if Lescott wants to leave when new defender comes(unless new defender is HG)

Hart - HG
Clichy - HG
Lescott - HG
Micah - HG
Milner - HG
Wright - HG
Sinclair - HG

Boyta - Not sure

Wright seems to be in our squad only to make up for the HG numbers
