don't good teams turn over marginal European opposition on away soil? it's not like we just struggle SOMETIMES with certain teams. We struggle mightily with pretty much anyone in this competition. And that team we put out there was pretty much our first team.

Didn't Mancini get sacked from Inter for getting facefucked in the CL? Just sayin.

Our team with the players we have should be able to destroy opposition like Aris. It's just not good enough.

I had an awful feeling Mary Castillo would nick one at the end to top off a shit night, thankfully that never materialised.

Such a dissapointing result but you would hope we will turn up on the night at home and progress.

At least Marios back.

Destroying them was never ever going to happen and that was obvious from the first minutes when they set up just to defend. They have a very good home record in Europe for a reason.

Destroy may not have been the best choice of word.My thought pattern is not yet rational.I would just expect more against a mid table Greek side. They have a very average home record in a poor league this season W5 D2 L5.

To be fair they might be mid table opposition but they were always going to play up today.

This was like their cup final.

Stating that it was a cup final to them is just an overused excuse for us being below par against opposition we shoud be beating.

Partially true but there is no doubt they played above themselves today. I doubt they will be as good at Eastlands, but yes we should have beaten them and if we had upped the pace a little we would have.

Honestly tonight we just looked tired and non fussed about the whole affair. The midfield was walking and passing for large parts tonight......

Thought we controlled the game for 90 mins, never really let them do anything (even though they are a weaker side). Dzeko had one shot go inches wide and a good header saved.. could easily have been 2-0.

Still I would like to see us "make more of an effot" offensively and look more interested.

These kind of matches are nomatter the oppo. difficult and glad we controlled it as well as we did. Should destroy them at home:-) Taking the positive from it: Decent match my Dzeko and balo looked fresh, defence looked good even though our main man was out (Kompany). Micah looking great still (keep it up lad, you're gonna be great if you keep at it!), passing confidence (except that last pass in offense) looking good and we do well controlling the flow.

Now just get off our asses and give 100% to really excell and do as well as we can with all this offensive talent! Come on City!

yeah, i'll never really understand the Home and Away variance in football. Sure, i get hearing a crowd cheer for you is somewhat motivational, but these guys are professionals. We talk about "home field or home court advantage" a lot in the US as well, but it honestly isn't the same as it is in football. I feel like it's almost some colloquial relic of the British Empire that is mostly complete horseshit. This deferential crap which infuses teams, managers, and referees and basically becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy for a fair portion of teams.

I don't subscribe to it. I'm bored of it. It's...bollox. Go out and fuclin win cuz yr better goddammit and quit fuclin about!

cheers

I lost it when Balotelli was down as good.A bit of favouritism there methinks.

For me our best players were:
Kolarov,Hart,Boateng,Micah. None of the attacking players did enough to be called good.I thought our weakest players were Bbarry,Yaya,Tevez. The 2 in midfield werent that bad on the defensive part but as midfield creative players they were rubbish.

Looking at the thread I'm sure my comments won't be welcome. I thought we played well and had a few chances to score. The defence had no real problems and the only real worry came from our own player. The aim in European away ties is to ensure the oppo don't score, which we did.

On the downside, I didn't like the way we deployed Carlos. He was invisible for most of the game again and I don't like the way he comes too deep; he seemed to want t run the show without actually running it, if you know what I mean. Dzeko showed he could get in decent positions but I'd prefer Carlos to take the lead or at least let Dzeko make more space.

And ITV, what can you say; absolute garbage reporting again. From the Townsend 'Barry could have been sent off', the twatto's laughable comments comparing Balo's overhead to Rooney's (couldn't wait to get it in) to the inane bullshit 'City will start to fall apart' speech near the end, ITV have proved that they will suck up to all and sundry to get a viewing. Oh, and let's not forget the 5 minutes of lost viewing, why didn't they just go to adverts, they're good at that!

Apart from that, I'm happy to get a 0-0 and take them back to ours.

I'm with you on the Tevez bit. I know he likes to drop deep to forage for the ball and then attack with one twos but I think he is overdoing it and anyway on that pitch it just wasnt working.

Didn't see too many of you complaining about the line-up, so that says you are all talking about Mancio's tactics. Personally I thought he allowed them to play a natural game similar to the Untied one. I suppose the players are just not used to it, they seem to need the discipline now.

True, but then for an away euro tie that's not such a bad thing. And if Dzeko had his head on he could've scored at least 2.

SWP started well but reverted to type second half and the substitution was an act of mercy. Maybe he just got very tired?

Not a bad result and not a great result, just a result.

The Bubble and Squeeks were very happy with a 0-0 and will be parking the bus at our place and coming for a score draw, or dragging us into penalties. We need a clean sheet at home, play disciplined and sensible and we can pick them off - so long as we apply ourselves properly.

They saved face by keeping their record intact, now we can steamroll them at home.

Hi mate. Macdonald Hotel is close to Piccadilly station, but you won't need to get a train to the stadium from your hotel. I'd recommend just getting the hotel to call you a taxi, it should only just a few pounds to City's ground. Either that or walk to Piccadilly station and just follow a group of City fans walking to the ground.
