Nasri Deal?????? On/Off, On/Off, On/Off

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

The Nasri deal will not drag on until the end of the transfer window because Arsenal will want to spend the money. Tomorrow's Press Conference will announce the transfer of Fabregas to Barcelona and quite possibly the Nasri deal as well. If they don't rule out the deal tomorrow it will certainly happen and quickly. In my view they might as well bite the bullet and get the bad news out of the way then spend the rest of the transfer window trying to appease the fans by announcing new signings. Still Wilshere can't run midfield on his own; they will need a quality midfielder, not just a couple of defenders.

One other bit of nonsense; how can Cercio be a substitute for Nasri as per this morning's current bun? Mancini said he wanted both a midfielder and a winger. With SWP on his way to Bolton then surely two more players are headed to Eastlands. If Tevez leaves on loan to Inter it could yet be three.

This so called obsession with Serie is a complete myth. He's signed more players from La Liga and as many from the Bundesliga as he has from Serie A. I do agree that our track record isn't good.

I didn't say him signing them from there....I said obsessing, looking at lads like this Cerci who frankly looks bobbins, and having his two sons here who didn't make the grade in Serie A or B, and this lad Scapuzzi and the shite he came out with about the players at Napoli.

I didn't mean he had a bad track record in his signings from Serie A (although the jury is certainly still out on both Mario and Kolarov and Vieira was a strange but useful signing) I meant City in general and more importantly the ability of players coming out of that league to excel in the PL, which is patchy

EDIT ^^^ what Peter Parker said!

Hear what your saying but you could say the same about the young lads Denis Suarez and Joan Roman from La Liga. Add those to Yaya, Dave Silva and Aguero , does this amount to an obsession with La Liga??

There are far more important things to be debating so I don't want to get too deep in to this but I've heard a few people voice concerns over Mancini's 'obsession' with Serie A and, as I say, it's a complete myth.

This isn't directed at you Ant, your comments weren't overly critical, but some on this same topic have been. I can't understand why anyone would want to be critical of Bobby, given what he has achieved, over something as tenuous as this.

I don't think Lombardo helps things when he has interviews about players we are interested in and JUST mentions Serie A players.

City must spend whatever it takes to bring him in. He is pure class and a duo with Silva can take City to the next level. On the other hand, if we don't sign him now and we will let this slip away and wait to negociate with him directly in january, be sure that the rags will be on the other line.
Imagine that when he will be in his last 6 months, he can receive offers from every club directly. Who knows, maybe Mourinho will want to bring him to Madrid, what will we do then?

Lots of what I kept seeing this morning in the football news was that Cerci would be a substitute for Nasri if we couldnt try him from Wenger's grasp. I dunno how he's a substitute....

Up to you but I don't let a few press sound bites from Lombardo, that's all it was, cloud my opinion of Mancini.

Going Off Topic now but your comments sort of back up my point. Shame that some people are so quick to have a dig at our FA Cup winning Manager over such tenuous issues.

off the Arsenal's official site:

"Meanwhile the future of Samir Nasri is also under the microscope. Once again his manager wanted a speedy resolution.
“The Nasri situation is stable,” said Wenger. “Again it is very difficult to speak about possible transfers but we are in a situation where we have to make decisions one way or the other. Ideally you want it to be sorted out before the season starts.”

I wasn't saying that's particularly the view I have on Mancini mate. Just that from hearing interviews like that other fans might get that impression.

Mate I take your point and I have no issue as to Roberto (or Lombardo or even Platt for that matter) focussing on a feeder pool with which they are better acquainted than your average premier league manager

I fully take on board the fact that we are eating at the top table these days and that top restaurants have a clamour for diners and maybe we should trust them to be able to unearth those hidden gems that only a local might appreciate.

It wasn't a criticism per se....more a bit of a moan that this Cerci seems a bit average....even in Italy. When those who have been top notch in Italy (Sheva, Crespo, Veron et al) have struggled I have severe misgivings at the thought that our manager and coaching setup might be looking at players like that and discarding those like SWP (who, I thought we should've binned last season....but who I would prefer even now to some shit unproven Serie A dick with a shit perm)...

Not being racist....but,....... ;-)

After watching that video I'd say both players will be off this weekend, Wenger didn't seem to be too relaxed in that video

I really only expect silva out of those 4 to start. Aguero and/or Tevez to make a sub appearance around the 60th...Tevez only if by some chance we're losing or at nil nil; i dont think he's fit enough having just come back. Aguero will sub because he's still nursing his feet.
Nasri, if we sign him, could sub...i think he has some muscular injury though. that's what arsenal has said. might not play due to lack of playing time with the squad.

and yeah, that is an expensive squad. last year in the derby with the rooney bicycle kick i remember the announcers saying those teams was more expensive than the top 4 expensive teams in the NFL, NHL, MLB, and MLS combined. ridiculous.
cant even imagine the overall price tag with ashley young, de gea, aguero, phil jones, and maybe nasri & sneijder added to the mix

I'm having a hazy recollection of is being linked with nasri when Pearce was in charge
