Lot of it depends on were these Pellegrini's players. There are some boom or bust signings like Jovetic and Fernandinho who are taking step up as far as competition goes. Navas is a role player. Only Negredo seems pretty surefire to me and even he will need steady providers of chances behind him in order to succeed.

What's wrong with being a role player? He brings something we've badly needed. As for Jovetic, I thought you'd be delighted having previously expressed your dismay at us signing 'a bunch of 28 year-olds'. Negredo will get plenty of service from Navas, as was the case at Sevilla, and Fernandinho freshens up and livens up our midfield options. All four players are perfect fits from my point of view.

It really is, so many options, so good players throughout the squad.

But, imo people are taking it for granted that these players will fit right in and perform as we hope. I haven't seen enough of them all to be really bullish about our signings (esp.Jovetic and Fernandinho). I wouldn't be shocked if one of these four would turn out to be a 'flop'. And imo it is Likely that one or two of these will not have the impact we are hoping for. We will see, either way I'm buzzing & can't wait for the season to start!

No signings are guaranteed hits but the business we've done is exactly the business we needed to do: pace and penetration out wide, a mobile CM who's comfortable in possession, a hot prospect and another good striker. But so far in his career he has been pretty strict about that 4-2-2-2 and that includes Malaga.

I didn't see them more than handfull times last year but to me it seemed like he was using his beloved 4-2-2-2. That's definitely how he has set up his teams in the past.
