CTID Hants wrote:Nemanja Matic set for medical at Chelsea ahead of £21m return
Nemanja Matic will undergo a medical with Chelsea ahead of a proposed £21m return to the club.

The 25-year-old Benfica midfielder arrived in London from Lisbon on Tuesday night.
He is close to completing a move back to the club he left three years ago.

The Serb was valued at less than £5m in January 2011 when he left Stamford Bridge as a makeweight in the deal that saw defender David Luiz join Chelsea from Benfica.

Manager Jose Mourinho quickly identified the defensive midfielder as a key target on his return to Stamford Bridge and the club have no issue with re-signing a player they previously let go.

Chelsea will offset the cost of signing Matic with the £16m they will receive from the sale of Kevin De Bruyne to Wolfsburg.

Matic joined Chelsea from Slovakian club MFK Kosice on a four-year deal for £1.5m in 2009.

He made two substitute appearances in the Premier League and was an unused substitute in Chelsea's 1-0 win over Portsmouth in the FA Cup final in 2010.

Matic joined Vitesse Arnhem on loan for the season in August 2010 before moving to Portugal as part of the Luiz transfer in February 2011.

Makes you wonder if there is any truth in the De-Jong return rumours?

If we sign a central midfielder then there is only one player I want and it isn't de Jong.

You people don't listen, I've been singing his praises for six months, Vidal.

We sign him, we win the league.

Would he be first choice and who would make way? Or a replacement for Garcia/Milner as a squad player? Is a top player mind though.

He is a top player and a rotation between Yaya, Fred and him would be just insane. You could play 4-3-3 on the back of that and attack all day long, with Nasri out at the moment it would seem more of a possibility.

If I had to replace a player in the middle, it's gotta be Fred unfortunately. As good as he is, he just isn't Yaya and Vidal is possibly the most complete all-around player on the planet at the moment.

Due to the uncertainty of the Southampton situation Chelsea have made a bid of 21million for Luke Shaw.

I seem to recall window after window of us stressing out, debating over who we'll sign and who we won't. If this player is worth it or not.

Now we're on the 20th of January and barely a whisper about it.

One reason being that there is barely a whisper coming out of the club.

Nobody seems to be getting even a hint of what's going on at our end. The only rumours seem to come from players' agents and the clubs involved. Even the deals which have gone through, such as the two Nigerian lads, seem to be completely hush hush from our end.
