In their defence Yaya was piss poor in a two man central midfield and not surprisingly Fernando looked at sea trying to cope on his own which he didn't.

It's not at all clear that all the World Cup absentees will be available next Sunday. Sagna surely but Aguero not and maybe not Fernandinho and Zaba. The real worry would obviously be if Vinny and MDM weren't ready but we absolutely mustn't rush them back. Magnala will surely not be ready either. I'd take a lucky 0-1 now.

I recon Pellegrini should have given Rekik 30 mins just to put it into perspective. Some people in cyberworld were suggesting we'd be fine with him & Nastasic as cover behind Vinny & MDM, maybe even some on here.

It has to be taken into consideration that both Boyata & Nastasic only had each other for a partner. You would expect both to be better next to one of the experienced players.

If however we had kept Lescott, VK, MDM, Mangala & Lescott would have been a fucking mint cb combo.

Lescott was never an option mate, the reason we have a sniff of Mangala is because we no longer have Joleon on the wage book.

However, he's still top of the league.

May I ask those who went if there was some sort of commemoration for big Joe?

Interesting to see the MEN take. Quite positive about Fernando Kolarov and Nastasic but very negative about Boyata. I thought Kola was his usual self; showed quite well coming forward but not reliable defensively.

Just as I predicted. Nastasic does fuck all, lets Ramsey go past him & score, no problem.

All Dedryk's fault.

The only thing I took from this match is that Clichy is no RB. He hardly does a good job at LB so to play him out of position is pure madness. As bad as Micah has been lately, I would've preferred to see him there from the start or even Milner or anyone but Clichy !!
I didn't expect much from this match but it's still disappointing to see City beaten 3 nil no matter how important the match is or not.

What a dissapointing match terrible defending and a scrap behind us city fans fighting each other Wtf. Hope this performance is a cunning plan to lure the opposition into false confidence.

Perhaps the worst game I remember in the Pellegrini era! But we were without all our best defensive players ...

Exactly like last year (in our final pre-season game). Very similar performance. I'm sure we will look completely different one week from gere

Deeply, deeply unimpressive today and a huge waste of money and time.

I think the only players who emerged with credit were Dave and the ones who didn't play.

I get all the stuff about how it is a meaningless game, and we have players to come back, but that was a poor, poor performance that was delivered by a team that should have done much better.

Thanks mate, good to see. Hopefully the Arsenal fans knew their history as well.

Match means nowt as me mate said. So how does it help trying to throw it away, Pellers, old chap? Two man midfield was lunacy against a ball playing Arsenal five. I'm gonna give Pellers the benefit of the doubt and believe he has really learned something and he just saw it as more important to give a few a run out. But it better be the last time he drops this clanger. And please don't anyone at the club say we are hoping for Milner to sign a contract because he would have to be deaf dumb and blind not to have got the picture by now. Sat around a lot of disappointed City fans. No one was baying but they deserved better than that.

Huge waste of time and money for the Blues who bothered to turn up. I do wish the club would have let us know in advance that their attitude to this game would be of the "couldnt give a toss" level of commitment. That way the 20k of us who wasted a day and a hole lot of dosh on it wouldnt have bothered either.

That back 5 today was a fookin joke. Going forwards, in the 2nd half Arse fielded 4 full-backs across the back and we still failed to make any decent impression.

Ive read also that our key World Cup players wont be back next week either - if thats the case we will slip to defeat at Newcastle as well.

Im sure its been raised elsewhere, but how come Debuchy & Giroud played today, yet Sagna didnt even report back till last week, as did Kompany? The start of.our season is in danger of becoming a shambles.

It's clear to see that the champions league will be the priority this season.

Giving our big players that extra bit of a break to recuperate and get them firing on all cylinders by the time the group stage starts.
I just hope that we don't drop too many points at the start of the season as every single match matters in this league.

Yes, this will be a very tight league. At this stage the squad looks like it still has a lot of work to do.
