Rumour of the day I heard - probably BS - is that Milner believes he was offered to Everton on part-ex for Barkley, and thus wont sign and will leave as a result ... allegedly.

Thse kind of rumours don't explain him saying he hoped to stay.

I think those "I hope to stay" statements are playing to the crowd Ted, don't you? Hes hardly going to come out and say "Ive decided Im off in the summer, but will play out the string this year" as the crowd reaction to him would be a little more lukewarm don't you think?

I don't blame him for going, he wants to play more often and likely in central midfield too, which he hardly ever does here. He's served his time, gives max effort and has earned the right. However, can you name one player in recent memory who ran his contract down and then stayed at the same club when he was a free agent?
