Taggart knew the score when he made that statement. His team selection for that game was shit, his tactics were shit, the game was shit and the outcome he got was shit. Therefore, to deflect criticsm from himself and the team (who he knows are going to struggle to retain the Crown), he instigates another hate campaign against somebody/thing. He is the King of Spin!
The problem with him now is, he has been in an untouchable position for so long that he now believes he can say anything and do anything to any of the governing body's (to be blunt, a God), and to a greater extent, those governing body's have put him there. The media have also come to believe whatever he says and have defended him to the hilt. However, this time he has gone to far and those who have bowed to him are beginning to change their tune because if they don't it will lead to even bigger cynicism towards the game, and especially the scum.
I expect nothing less than a lengthy touchline ban (5 games minimum), a fine that is possibly bigger than Ade's and a public apology to Wiley. And yes, I know it should be more but let's face it, the FA are going to have to ask Taggart for permission to charge him in the first place, so anything that does happen will be with his Blessing!
