A lucky win for Scouse would do for me, nothing that would give them a big boost but Villa are the main threat at the moment

Ideally Liverpool win but then serious injuries to Torres, Gerrard, Agbonlahor, Carew and Young overshadow the result. Is that too harsh to wish for???

A draw gives us the best result. It puts us potentially ahead of Villa and probably cuts the slender umbilical cord that just about still links L'Pool with the chasing pack.
Whatever the result, we are in a win win situation with this. One of them has to drop points.

A Liverpool win will be the best result for City as it would move us up to fifth, and not by default as someone has stated, you are in the league where you deserve to be in the league. We'd still be 2 points infront of Liverpool with a game in hand plus Villa would have been beaten two games in a row by teams they are supposedly fighting for 4th spot so it would be a huge psychological dent to their aspirations. Dunne is already talking negative in todays papers so they are obviously feeling the pressure already after getting well beaten by Arsenal, Villa's season will collapse soon imo and we should be there to take full advantage.

because for me most of my mates are liverpool fans and i will never hear the end of it, they will genuinely believe that they are helping us out to make themselves feel better. you won't believe the delusion i have heard in conversations amongst them over the years, my personal favourites include 'carragher would walk into brazil' and a story about how before he was successful, liverpool fans gave ryan giggs such a torrid time in a reserve game that it was the sole reason he went on to become the player he has. said with total seriousness.

I want a liverpool win tonight, i think it will be better for us to stay level on points with villa with the games we have got coming up there not as hard as Villa's, could see them dropping some point there.

Aston Villa Fixtures:

Wigan Athletic
West Ham United
Arsenal
Fulham
Tottenham Hotspur
Manchester United

blues-clues wrote:Who do you want to win this one? Liverpool are probably a spent force now, aiming for a Uefa League place if they are lucky so probably less of a threat than Villa for 4th place. Big bonus is that if Liverpool win we go above Villa on goal difference. Villa though must be favourites and a good win could see the beginning of the end for Benitez.

My original plea, chatting with a friend and just looking superficaily at the table, was for a reds' win.

upon a more minded review, I still continue to consider liverpool to be, along with chelsea and arsenal, the only team that before the window have better lines-up than us: specially when the frozen season will be over, can anybody consider a team that can starts some carragher, gerrard, aquilani and torres as a spent force - plus benitez have not turned an idiot and still remain a wise manager.
my best would be a draw be if i should pick one a would prefer villa to win.

Then, give mancini something like a 5 years younger maldini and de rossi (possibly little younger himself) and I will close the table just to open it on may 9th for final acknowledgement... :-)

Come on the draw. Wouldnt overly mind a Villa win as stupid as that sounds. The scousers not finishing in the top four would be the end for them with all their financial woes etc. That sounds appealing.

0-0 would do me fine, but I'd like to see us leapfrog AV after a loss to the scouse1 to piss a little on AV's chips.

But would that put a spring in the scousers step? But as Colin TK says, gotta look ahead and AV loosing means we move forwards - Onwards and upwards.

So Draw = Ok
Liverpool win = Top notch!

A Draw for both is always good for teams competing against us, it takes two points away from them both. So I'm quite happy if it ends up 0-0. We gain ground on Villa and Liverpool lose ground on us.
