I think Spurs and villa will start to fall off, Liverpool have some hard games coming up and may drop points, and with us having 3 game's in hand on them if we can pick up all 9points i don't see no reason why we won't be favourites for 4th or even higher.

agreed, also the chumps league and europa league are also starting again this month. They will all have to travel europe and the europa is liverpools only chance of a trophy and benitez will be under pressure to win something and get 4th spot. Plus they have a thin squad, a couple ore injuries and they might be too far behind to recover once their big guns are all back.

Arsenal will be realistically looking at the champs league as well, so this will be a welcome distraction for us.

If we really get some good form going, we will walk it.

Good point there Wonderwall i didn't even think about the europa and champions league coming into play. I think us not being in europe may have been a blessing in disguise. Let's hope for a few injuries to a few of there players ;)

I have been impressed by the way jamie redknapp has talked about us this year, he has repeatedly backed us up when that prick gray has been having a pop and has I believe always considered us as a threat for the title and to definately be the main contender for the top four.

I think we will make it, though the away games against arse and chels and possibly the home game against scum in april will tell a tale.

We're getting the team back to full fitness going into the second half of the season. We dont have Europe this year as a distraction. Mancio has won 7 in 9. Champions League next season lads. But we can get 3rd or 4th without a doubt. 3rd probably depends a lot on whether Aresnal struggle from here but apart from that all we have to do is have a good run of form , beat the teams we really should beat ( which we have done so far with Mancini) and at least hold our own when we play Chelski,Scum,Arse,Pool,Spurs and Villa. In the case of Villa they have a massive cup final to play in and I hope and pray they win. Teams that have won the Carling Cup have tended to have a drop off in league form. Look what happened to Spurs when they won it.

I feel we are better than Spurs and can catch The Arse but to do this we need to learn to grind out dirty 1-0 wins. Sunday to me showed we can be poor and win and if you can do that you have half a chance. If we can get it right at places like Stoke and Hull which I feel are the acid tests then we have a chance and I think this year it's there for the taking.

I think this is a great, positive thread and really enjoyed reading the comments.

To get 4th i think we'll need to reach 70pts, so another 29pts in 16 games. It's worth bearing in mind that Spurs need another 28 in 14, Liverpool 29 in 14, Villa 30pts in 15 games.

Before we get too carried away, all i'd say is it will be our away form that will decide it and we have to learn from what Everton etc have done in recent years especially away from home, where they don't play well but keep it tight, stay in the game and nick it 1-0 and take the 3points. It's games like Hull and Stoke away that are going to define whether we are capitalise on our very good position at the moment.

Home form-wise - just look at the stats, over the past three seasons we've turned Eastlands into a real fortress and in the last 12 months alone, we've won at home agst Chelsea, Arsenal (three times), Aston Villa, United, Hamburg.

Got a great chance if we tighten up away from home.
