Ireland at the moment isnt playing anything like last season, I think he knows it and his confidence is low, maybe putting Vieira in behind him will help, instead of sideways or hoof Dejong

Agree with you on Ireland. At best he can be used as a sub on current form. Tevez should be playing behind Ade in the old position
that Elano used to fil. Barry and NDJ should be rested and Silvinho shud be used in midfield. He was great in that position at Boro.
My formation would be
----------------------------Given----------------------------
Richards (if fit)-----------Onuoha----Toure---------------Bridge
---------------------------Vieira-----------------------------
SWP--------------------Silvinho------------Johnson (or Petrov)
---------------------------Tevez-----------------------------
---------------------------Ade-----------------------------

I'd go for this:

-------------------------Given--------------------------

Richards--------Onuoha-------Toure---------Bridge

-------------------------Vieira-------------------------

A. Johnson------------Ireland----------------Bellamy

------------Adebayor------------Tevez----------------

Subs: Taylor, Boyata, Zabaleta, De Jong, Barry, SWP, Petrov

Mancini has now said Vieira will start if there's no reaction to the Hull game so I should imagine that's where he'll play him but he may add DeJong or Barry rather than pick such an attacking formation. Hope he doesn't pick both + Vieira for a home game.

Being the lazy bugger I am the only change would be Boyata for Onouha

More worried that he would play Ireland.

Personally would play Vieira and De Jong with Barry on left and SWP on right

BRING BACK THE 442!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4-4-2 yeah but why would you play possibly the least creative midfield of all time? That's a horrible four to have.

Vieira was a crap signing and shouldn't be near the team but sadly he will be.

I would have

------------------------------------------------Given---------------------------------------------------

Richards-------------------Onuoha---------------------------Lescott-------------------------Bridge

-----------------------------------------------De Jong--------------------------------------------------

Wright-Phillips------------------------------Ireland-------------------------------------------Petrov

-----------------------------Tevez----------------------------Adebayor-------------------------------

Subs: Taylor, Toure, Bellamy, Johnson, Barry, Boyata, Zabaleta

There is no way Vieira can play in a 442.

At least Bridge ( or Garrido) won't have to worry about Weiss ripping along on the right wing this time !

That's what I would choose. Vieira is quality.

It's your team mate, but how do you get that Vieira is quality; is it based on his past or his 30 minutes yesterday?

He played well yesterday, and I've seen him play for Inter. I always thought he was solid.

I actually thought that for the 30 mins he was on, he gave nothing of substance and was ineffective. And for Inter, he was in no way a 1st team regular, only starting in about 8 games and that was more due to injuries.

Personally, I'd like to see just 1 holding mid, 2 wingers in Shaun and Johnno with Ireland acting as the box-to-box in midfield with a more fluid role, with Ade up front and Tevez just sat off. We are playing Bolton at home and do not see the need for playing 6 defensive players with 3 more covering.

----------------Given ----------------

Richards Toure Lescott Bridge

------------Vieira Barry ------------

SWP------------------------------Johnson

-------------Ade Tevez-------------

Although I believe this will be too much width for Bobby Manc.... expect NDJ, Barry & Vieira all to play!!!

Really, you can tell that already?

I'm looking forward to him starting a game so I can analyse whether or not he can hack it in the premier league anymore.

I just hope its a more attack minded team than last time round.

Agree with ant and zurich. I would start without Adebayour.
I don't think his mind is in a good place yet PLUS he seems to be inhibiting the middle ground flow for Tevez and Ireland.

Given
Onuoha Richards Toure Bridge
Johnson Ireland Barry Petrov
Tevez Adebayor

we dont need a defensive midfielder against bolton and if we do then it just shows how bad the defense is.
I think Petrov would be the best option against Steinson because he is slow on the turn which Petrov can expose.
Richards in the middle to counteract Davies in the air and bolton longball tactic which they do still use with coyle.
Also worried that bridge will be run ragged with Lee Youngs trickery and pace

I dunno mate, he may not be quite back to his best but I wouldn't drop a striker that has two goals and one assist in three games.

I should point out that his "head" is not why I haven't picked him in my team. I just feel (as has been brought out in other threads today) that him and Tevez aren't yet on the right kind of wavelength....esp when Ireland is sat behind them.

I want Tevez to stay further forward and Ireland pushing into the spaces that Carlos and Ade have been dropping back into.

Manu to come on and feature defo but I want to get Stevie back into form and I want to win. Several players I think need to play themselves into form (Barry, SWP, Stevie)

That was my aim

Yeah I can see your point there alright and the players you mentioned do need a confidence boost.

That said, I think he'll start Ade.

I think he will but I'd rather keep Ade for the two starts vs Stoke

those cunts are HUGE (I was shocked when I saw the size of their side on Boxing Day). I'd start Tevez for Bolton and Liverpool and Ade for the other two
