I'm delighted with the win. Absolutely chuffed with the RESULT.

But we were just like against Everton for about an hour - until the sending off - and then we had them.

Everyone's happy, its just that when you win 11 v 11 convincingly, it gives the whole club confidence going into the next game.

I don't feel confident and you two do. Who's wrong?

I'm inclined to agree with Crossan, whilst the result was a great one, if we continue to perform like that we have no chance of forth.

The key words are in bold.

I agree with most comments on here we are riding our luck here instead of skill. Mostly due to injurys and those couple of missing positions however I think we are in a funny situation we need top 4 now to seriously improve but we probably need top 4 to seriously improve.. Well if we wanna do it as quick as our owners want it. I honestly think we are gonna need a bit of luck to get top 4 this season good job though Tevez has those lucky shinpads eh?

we're not playing like a top 4 team. why do we let the opposition have so much time on the ball? last night it seemed to me we were defending from the front line with Ade, AJ and Tevez putting themselves in but NDJ and Vieira were just annonymous. We're a one man team and we don't deserve 4th. Spurs play great football and they do deserve it.

We won and kept a clean sheet.I dont see whats not top 4 about that.It doesn't bother me in the slightest the quality of the football being served up.The result is paramount and that is the way it is with top 4 clubs.Spurs have played great football for years and its got them relatively not a lot. They can deserve allsorts what they get is a different matter.

Completely agree

Not playing like a top 4 side is a laughable comment...apparently top 4 sides play with style and panache every game...like the rags have done all season............oh wait..........

Top 4 sides grind out results even when shit...that's what we did last night

Furthermore, you don't win ANYONE in this league 3-0 by being shit. When we drew with them earlier this season we were fairly poor. Ditto losing to them last season. We were alright last season when we won this tie 1-0. But apparently now we are shite when we win 3-0.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

so you think one exceptional player who managed to break free of the wigan shackles for twelve minutes against ten men means we played well. tevez played well. we gave them far too much time on the ball and were lucky rodallega didn't score it would have been a far different story on here if he had. what concerns me is that we have to play teams far superior to wigan before the season finishes. great result last night of course. but we got lucky.

We may have been lucky but its being able to use your luck.
There were instances when the pie eaters were lucky also but they were not able to do anything with their luck.
And having a player that was able to break free is all about being able to use our luck.
For me the whole team played well and made the best of their luck hence we won.

I went to that game. It was dreadful. We scored from a fluke shot from Zabba, then Dunne got himself red carded and it ended up with us fighting for our lives for the last half hour, surviving only thanks to Samba missing a sitter from half a yard.

I'd call yesterday's game progress.

Luck didn't come into it last night! We won because of the individual brilliance of one player!
Most of the others contributed little to what was an uninspiring team performance...again!

What? So Tevez isn't part of our team?

How the fuck are we lucky EVERY time we win by the way? I don't last night luck played any role whatsoever.

What about it? It was just one of those tight calls. And to be fair most of those have been going AGAINST us recently. We've had so many valid penalty complaints during last about month and half turned down I've lost account.

And I've said it million billion times before, I don't believe in luck in football. They had two clumsy centerbacks, constantly inches away from either getting a card or giving out a penalty. That same feller who got red carded, sneakily brought Tevez down in box in first half. Having clumsy centerbacks isn't poor luck, it's having poor players.

These arguments have turned on their head in past few months (basically since Mancini took over) to what they were before. While people always used to rue our luck, I was always saying that most decisions even themselves out over the season, these days I'm having to tell fellow Blues that we weren't lucky after game won 3-0. To some extent that is really depressing.

Mr. Muck says we got lucky. You say luck had fuckall to do with it,so we may all think different things.
Also you say that it was down to the individual brilliance of one man that we won.To me it looked a bit different it looked like Paddy played a clever pass for Carlito's first goal and Javi's good pass and Vinnie's dummy for his second.Granted,Carlos finished of the moves brilliantly but the team set him up to do it.On top of that we kept a clean sheet so the team performance may not have been all that exciting for some to watch but to me it seemed inspiring enough to think we can do that to any team that is put in front of us.

I don't want to get caught up in a 'these things even themselves out' argument. all i'm really trying to say is that we were going nowhere last night until Wigan Athletic (who our fourth place rivals beat 9-1) had a man sent off. i am worried about games against teams superior to wigan.
