Bollocks, I work Sunday's till 3pm. Now I'm really not happy. I had to re-arrange nearly half my shifts the last time we were in UEFA. That's tipped me over the edge tonight - fucking Tottenham Hotspur, always messing my life up. Think I'll go off and do another Downfall parody :-(

I'm not happy but I am content. We have gone from tenth to fifth in 1 season with loads of hope for the future. I suppose it all works off what your expectations were at the start of the season, and mine were around where we are.

I'm happy with the Europa, Champions League would've been great, but not to be next season. Spurs have deserved it after their recent run, and they've taken their chance tonight, but we'll be back, stronger, fitter and more able.

What a set of miserable and deluded bastards. We finished 5th! Spurs finished 4th and over the season were a better team. Get over it. The best finish in my lifetime. We're building a team that will be challenging for the title next year. I'm happy. SMILE! :)

The difference between us and the others is that they all have limits in what they can achieve.

Everton have NO money to spend and have been punching above their weight for years.
Liverpool are skint and will most likely have to sell Torres and/or Gerrard unless they get a seriously wealthy owner.
Do you honestly think Spurs will be able to outbid or attract players that we want want? Spurs have been a selling club for years and the Champs League will not change that overnight. Furthermore, they are only in the qualifying stages, they have to win their qualifying match to get some serious money, and even then, it won't allow them to outspend us!

For Spurs this season was now or never as if we finished 4th, we would never look back. For us, on the other hand, we still have serious financial clout and will be heavy favourites to finish in the top 4 next season.

It's true what you're saying about the Champs League not changing Spurs overnight. All this talk about how lucrative the being in it is - it's only really when you go and a long run that you start to stack up the dosh through gate receipts, sponsorships etc. Okay so they might attract a few more players than they could previously but I really wouldn't bet on it transforming them so much next season.

Ooh, we got 5th, maybe. What progress - we're back to where Reid got us.

Why are people pleased about being in the europey league? It's a pointless competition that no outside the teams involved is interested in. Are the people who are pleased the same ones who said it was good we didn't make it for this season, as it would mean less games and we could therefore concentrate on 4th?

The majority of the players are overpaid prima donnas who aren't fit to wear the shirt and hughes takes the blame for that. The inability to score in games at home and negative tactics are mancini's fault. I hope they both feel as misearable as we do, but i doubt it.

I'm convinced we'll never win anything whilst i've got a hole in my arse, there's justsomething wrong with the club. Skint or insanely rich, we're still the theatre of base comedy and i'm sick of it

It was definitely the draws that killed us in the Hughes era. In my opinion the segments in the Premier League this season have been the top 8. The rest in the middle, and then the bottom 8. Check this out.

In the Mancini era these were draws or losses:

Everton - Lost - AWAY - TOP 8 TEAM.
Hull - Lost - AWAY - Bottom 8 team
Stoke - Draw - AWAY - Middle team
Liverpool - Draw - home - TOP 8 TEAM
Sunderland - Draw - AWAY - bottom 8 team
Everton - Lost - home - TOP 8 TEAM
Manchester United - Lost - home - TOP 8 TEAM
Arsenal - Draw - AWAY - TOP 8 TEAM
Tottenham - Lost - home - TOP 8 TEAM

However if we look at Hughes tenure.

Man United - Loss - AWAY - TOP 8 TEAM
Aston Villa - Draw - AWAY _ TOP 8 TEAM
Wigan - Draw - AWAY - bottom 8 team
Fulham - draw - home - middle team
Birmingham - draw - AWAY - middle team
Burnley - draw - home - bottom 8 team
Liverpool - draw - away - TOP 8 TEAM
Hull - draw - home - bottom 8 team
Bolton - draw - AWAY - bottom 8 team
Tottenham - lost - AWAY - TOP 8 TEAM

Basically looking at the above anything in capitals is a potential excuse for losing or drawing such as facing a top 8 team or being away from home or in some cases both.

For a start Mancini has been in charge for 20 games and had 9 losses or draws.

Hughes was in charge for 17 games and had 10 losses or draws.

Mancini in every single one we lost or drew was either away from home or facing a top 8 team or in some cases both. If it doesn't happen consistently you can forgive the odd loss/draw away from home or not getting a win against a top 8 side.

However what is unforgivable is Hughes drawing at home to Fulham who are a midtable team (bottom 9 actually), to Burnley at home who are now relegated and drawing at home to Hull who are also relegated.

That in my opinion is what's killed us getting 4th. Those results are unforgivable.

Both managers would have had to have been credited had we finished 4th. Both have to be responsible for us finishing 5th.

The "trajectory of points" is quite simple. The owners felt the last guy couldn't achieve 70, the current lad definitely couldn't.

Hughes was in charge for 17 games and had 10 losses or draws.

Mancini in every single one we lost or drew was either away from home or a top 8 team or in some cases both.

Think you could probably do with putting the number of credible attacks or even attempts to get forward in those Mancini losses and draws as well.

I would say every game with Hughes bar the Tottenham away game is a definate yes.

Everton - AWAY - Nope
Stoke - AWAY - Nope
Liverpool - HOME - Nope
Everton - HOME - Nope
United - HOME - Nope
Arsenal - AWAY - Nope
Tottenham - HOME - Barely

Anyway, back on Topic, start of the season and after I've picked myself up off the floor then 5th may just about be acceptable, but given the way the season has gone and the chance we have blown tonight then it's a definate NO from me.

Some suggestions to improve us for next year

1) Fucl Garry Cook off. He is to PR what Harold Shipman is to patient welfare
2) get in 2 quality full-backs. Zabba is a walking booking and gives away daft free kicks, Bridge isnt good enough and is a lemon when distributing the ball.
3) Find a box to box midfeilder and leader. Difficlut but we are crying out for a midfielder who gets ahead of the front 2 and carries a threat in the final third, rather than defensive role players who play on top of the back 4. The squad has too many indians and not enough Chiefs on the field for us.
4) We need another top class striker who isnt fickle like Adebayor, and doest run like he's holding in a shit (Santa Cruz)
5) Only change the manager if it Mourinho coming in, otherwise stick with MANCINI.
6) Point out to Ireland that 1 good season in 5 doesnt make you a superstar; form is temporary, class is permanent.
