I think its a sad state of affairs that no prof footballer can come out as gay because of the type of people that watch football. You can only imagine the abuse.
How would some of you feel to supporting an openly gay footballer??? Would you find if difficult.
I know within the women's game the FA are in complete denial about this and have tried to sex up the appeal of some of the England women players to appeal to men, poster campaigns and such. The irony was some of the girls they have used are more gay than me and thats saying something!!

As much as i jest about anything on this board, i could really give a fucl who people shag. Everyone gets turned on and/or falls in love with whatever they are into. Who am i to judge?
It would actually prollee be really fantastic for a sport in America if a really manly man type dude came out as an NBA or NFL player during his heyday and said "im gay." Some have done it at the end of their careers, to little fanfare, but i can't recall a major popular sportsman in his prime deciding to throw caution to the wind and say "this is who i am." Surely, there are gay players in the NFL and NBA. I can pretty much statistically guarantee it.
Baseball...it wouldn't be so much of a revelation. Some clubs have gay orgies in the locker rooms i think based on how they perform on the field. Just sayin.
cheers

You're obviously too young to remember what happened with Morley and Bishop at City Fu and remember Justin Fashanu?
Can't remember Blues layin into any of em. In fact Bish loved it so much he came back to us and played a superb cameo role in later years.

This would not bother me in the least. As it is estimated that up to 10% of males are gay (or don't actually realise they are) it would stand to reason that up to 10% of footballers could be anyway.
All I am bothered about is how they play, not their sexuality. In fact, I would have even more respect for the gay ones if they actually came out and admitted it in a 'good for him' type of way.
Finally, for the record, I am totally sure and comfortable with my own sexuality.
Basically, I am a lesbian ...... trapped in a mans body!!

Come the fuck on. Bishop being caught in bed with Morley is biggest fucking football myth ever. Probably a rumour started by a rag. Bishop is happily married for fucks sake.
Justin Fashanu's story is sad.
It'd be great if one of the top footballers came out. Besides, I don't even think he'd be receiving that much stick. I mean what would people shout at him? Fucking homo? Errr......

Actually it was in reference to a friend of my dad's who got in an bit of trouble for carrying on with a young lad, he was arrested because the lad's mother claimed he was underage, turned out they were trying to extort my dad's friend and he wasn't underage and actually older than he claimed during their relationship.
Is still married to the same woman to this day.
