Have to say despite Germany making it to the Semis I did not enjoy this World Cup that much. The Vuvuzelas played a major part in that and I hope there will never ever be a World Cup in Africa again just because of those shitty horns.

Atmosphere was boring, hardly any singing possible, the ball was shit as well I think...
so now as every enemy circles our city

If it weren't for the horns, the no-shows by the superstars and the good action in the latter rounds it would have been a totally forgettable World Cup. I think it does actually pip USA 1994 for the worst tournament I've seen. I always put my negative feelings towards the US WC down to us not having qualified. South Africa 2010 was even worse because we DID.

The redeeming feature of the tournament is the fact that two of the best players (Sneijder and Villa) in it have actually made it to the final.

Otherwise......meh

notwithstanding the fact that usually when the cameras showed someone playing a vuvu it was some cunt in a holland or spain shirt?

i'd say wankers that constantly drone on about the vuvuzelas are far more tedious.

Football was average most of the time except when Spain turned up for the semis. Too many average players for my liking even though England were shit I'm confident in saying anyone from Championship level leagues has no place in a world tournament.

I don;t buy any of that shite about the ball or altitude, neither should be a surprise factor given we've had 4 years to prepare (6 months with the ball?)

With those fuckin Zulu's vulva things I tried to get over the fact we had no crowd atmosphere by listening to the commentary. Well that was the low point. Either Jocks who are miserable by nature or Lawro saying negative things 100% of the time. It was a disgrace.

Football on tv will always get my vote, my comments are just to clarify where I think the tournament and media and fucked up.

One final point, those 3.30 kick offs wre a bit of ball ache when a decent side were playing. I understand the game is global but I'm just sharing my own view.

6/10 for me If England woudl have progressed this may have rose to 8/10

Come on Spain for tonight, I sick to death of hearing about how good Holland are from the pundits (desailly and Ade aside as I can't understand their drival).

i have one in my closet. i think it might be the first match today where i break it out and blow it while i sit around drinking an Amstel Light (fuck off im a fatass on a diet!) in my Holland top. Strange Vuvuzela note: after blowing the thing for about 2 minutes yr knackered. For realz.

The ball is shit, players are having to alter their techniques to deal with it. The fans at home in the 'fan parks' in the various home countries look much more passionate than the fans at the grounds, who are more like rag-type tourist fans, politely applauding goals rather than going berserk. Vuvufuckingzela's making every game seem the same.

Some games in the last rounds have been very good. The rest was poor quality & boring. Hardly any magic to remember.

Brazil WC will be much much better in every way .

good summary.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

It's not been that bad. It's suffered from a couple of things. First, the "big names" haven't performed, either because of injury or lack of form. Secondly, most, if not all, of the better teams have shown feet of clay when under pressure. Generally though, it's been a WC for teamwork over individual brilliance - which I don't mind, not being a celebrity groupie.

Quite why Ted says that the football has been poor and also says the WC would have been better if England would have progressed is beyond me. The England performance was probably amongst the worst of any side in South Africa. Sad, but true.

Not mentioned anything about England mate. Their performance was the worst I've ever seen from an England team considering the players available. That squad should have reached the semi's imo but were lucky not to finish bottom of their group. Disgusting.

Irrespective of that, it was the worst World Cup I've ever seen ending with an apt final.

Have watched every world cup since 1966 and in that time only missed about 4 games but I have to say the 'memorable moments' from this tournament were few and far between.

I didn't really enjoy it.. the early rounds of football were really poor and then I had to listen to the commentators talking up "beautiful football" by Spain for a month, and how Germany were poor except on the counter attack and they hadn't versed anyone with a good defence.

I thought the final was fitting of the tournament really apart from the qtr finals of uruguay vs ghana, argentina vs germany, holland vs Brazil and the 3rd place playoff i thought the football was pretty dour to watch

I enjoyed it because regardless of its faults i still love my football. That said it was by far the worst world cup i have witnessed.Started slowly looked to pick up a bit and then just stuttered along and grinded to halt tonight with a dire final.

Vuvuzelas and the Jabulani ball aside, from a footballing perspective one of the biggest problems for this world cup was that many of the countries with the better players to choose really let themselves down.

The Italian defense of the title was embarrassing,Italians must have been gutted especially competing in such a weak group and not being able to get through it.Slovakia,New Zeland and Paraguay it should have been a stroll in the park for them.A reluctancy to bed in youth with the older quality players they still have was the problem here in my own opinion. To many players at the tail ends of their careers and not enough desire.Bit of a case of been here done that with the squad they brought but should have had more than enough to make the knocout stage at a minimum. After this world cup the majority of that squad should call it a day and give youth a chance.

France what a farce they were, more players represented them than any other nation in the last 8 of this years champions league.
Quality players in abundance but sadly a manager who should never have been allowed lead that team at this world cup.The problems have been apparent for so long with Domenech and the french players, amazing he was not sent packing even before the qualifying stages of this world cup. They can only live to regret the decision not to.Shameful world cup for france. The French football federation have a lot to answer for here.I could go on all night about the French set up but i think its better i dont.

Sorry guys im sure your all well aware more so than me, but England were so dissapointing. So much expectation here after a brilliant run and some great football in the qualifying stages. The group looked a dodddle even more so than Italy's.Remember the headline in the paper dubbing the group "EASY" after the groups were announced.
E ngland

Y anks
Fair enough with the Usa they are not a bad side.It was quite amazing that England did not beat Algeria, i think that must have been such anagonizing result for the players and morale was really low from then on.Even inbeating the Slovenians the performance was far less than what was desired and i think the belief was gone.I dont normally single out players for critism(actually thats a lie i do it all the time) but Rooney was by far the biggest let down at this world cup.As much as i loathe him i cant deny he was fantastic last season, where did that quality go to in South Africa. From talisman to handicap, england may aswell have being playing with 10 men most of the time while he grew more and more frustrated.

Maradona?????
Argentina played some great football but under the leadership of Maradona no matter how good they were they were never going to achieve anything without any guidance.
He amazingly had the brainwave to leave behind two of the most impressive players in European football this year, Cambiasso and Zanneti respectively. He also thought he would put an extra bit of pressure on his own players by not only starting Gutierrez but slotting him in clueless and out of position at right back.Surely Zanetti must have looked on in sheer amazement when he saw his replacement.
Basically i think he was tactically inept and had no place coaching a team at a world cup finals, he may well have had a great attitude and the players took to him but hes basically left clueless tactically when compared to any footballing coach who has any idea what hes doing. If they had a decent coach they could have went a lot further.

My last rant will be directed at Fifa and the refs, again they were rubbish.Too many poor decesions.Im sick to teeth of the so called beholders of fair play and the lack there of.
How on earth Lampards goal did not stand.Usa goal did not stand.Klose off v Serbia.Kaka sending off.Tevez blatantly offside v Mexico.De Jong stayed on the pitch tonight.Van Bomel stayed on the pitch in any game???????
Thats just a few major errors i can think of im sure if i had the time and patience i could think of more.
Overall the state of refereeing was very poor and i certainly dont know how it will be resolved but something needs to be done.

Not the best of tournaments but I really enjoyed it from the quarter finals onwards. The quarter’s finals were brilliant viewing.

I’ve heard people say Spain are boring and if you share that view you should go watch another sport. They way move as a team is incredible and the performance against Germany was one of the greatest team performances I have ever seen. Technically miles ahead of anyone else.

Germany were my team of the tournament and I eagerly await the rematch in the 2012 Euro’s (providing Spain get out of Scotlands group) I’d put money on that being the final right now and that German team two years older could be freighting good. The way they tore England and Argentina apart was just stunning to watch.

I enjoyed seeing England France and Italy being shown up, at least France had an excuse of not actually trying. It’s nice to have the status quo mixed up and Uruguay, Ghana, Chile were all great to watch while it lasted.

The real plus of the tournament for me was that we will never have to hear again about Wayne Rooney being world class. The negative is the ball which I hope never see’s the light of day after this tournament and those Dutch girls being kicked out of the stadium and who didn’t miss the Swedish girls in the crowd in the Swedish bikini shots that we got used to every tournament
