Potential sick note situation here, but worth the risk for them considering he was on a free.
Harry will be twitching like a lunatic tonight. He was mad to seal a deal for Cole.

Didn't they get Harry Kewell on a free as well?
How's he doing these days?

So he chose money over Champions League football at Chelsea, Arsenal or Spurs? Where's his ambition? :P

I heard that it was only LFC who would offer >£75k p/w. From where they're getting that kind of money is anyone's guess.

Maybe one of their high earners are on the way out? Or maybe they've worked out the maths and can sell him off in a years time for 4 or 5 million, realistically making a profit? Or just maybe, they are in the grips of a takeover and he knows who the eventual owners will be? Or................endless really!

Whatever reason they've got him, it's plain to see that he's not there to win trophies!

Different scenario if it were City, but for liverpool, its great business, a bit like owen last summer. Yes, I'm sure we are still still regretting how City let owen slip away. Funny how this all gets turned on its head by these wankers. Don't get me wrong, I think Cole is a good player, and its a good addition for liverpool but right now I hope his does his cruciate first game just to burst all these hypocrites balloons

I have turned off Talk Sprott after Mickey Quinn claimed the Cole signing was the signing of the summer.

Easy, Marlon Harewood hasn't moved yet.

I agree its the best move LFC can make. It has the potential to go sour with injuries but with Benayoun gone they definitely needed someone. The 6m signing on fee means they've effectively traded Cole for Yossi. On the back of the past couple of seasons that actually sounds like a bit of a backwards step to me.

Harry Kewell's actually done very well at Galatasaray by the way.

My thoughts exactly at £4.5M per year or whatever.

Reading all their letters on teletext etc they've gone berserk - gonna win the league, CL, back where they belong, all that nonsense. All from a free transfer signing of a Chelsea reserve.

Gerrard -

Joe Cole's as good as Messi or Ronaldo on the ball & he'll give any player a run for their money when it comes to tricks.

I've heard it all now.

Just heard that Gerrard has pledged himself and that Torres will be staying. Similarly, they've heard a garbled message from Mexicano who said 'He'll be back'.

Unless it's just a PR stunt, and along with the Cole signing, I'd say they've got a bit of investment from somewhere.

think he chose to play more games tbh, rather than be a bench warmer

good player is joe cole, though would he get many first team opportunities in the top teams, liverpool was proberbly the right club for him

If (and it is a big If) Liverpool have got some money coming in they will need a huge investment. They have missed the boat this summer so we will move on faraway from them. Let's see what they do in the next two weeks - this will give a clue IMO as to if they have any real money.

Would not be surprised if Torres moves in Janaury either to City or Chelsea. Given the World Cup any buyer would want to have his fitness proven surely.

As for Cole. Can be a class player on his day. Problem is he does not have many days and we have other players already at the Club who are better suited to us e.g. Silva and Ireland. If the rumours about Sneidjer come true then Cole will fade into the background very quickly.

Oh the joy of being a blue.

I was thinking the same earlier but when you think about it logically, the Dippers was his best choice. He obviously wants to play regular football and I can't see Wenger playing him (or paying him) as a starter, he loves his kids (literally) and would be loathed for one of them to lose his place to someone of his age. Chelsea was obviously a no-go whilst he would also find it hard to get into the Spurs team; I also think 'Arry was pulling a fast one by being linked to him to help him find a new club.

And the biggest issue is, 'Who would actually pay him the money he was asking?'. The truth is, no-one! He was looking for 5 mil a year if reports are to be taken into account, which is a huge sum for any team and considering his recent injury record and lack of 1st team appearences, leaves him with little choice but take the heighest bidder.

I suppose that's a mix of the two.

I can't see how anyone can think that Liverpool are the best choice for Joe Cole. The guy is going to have to turn bread into
wine and fish into water - and it isn't going to happen. He is not a 'central' player, like the 'older version' of Gerrard. He's made a mistake. Especially if the Europa cup in the next two weeks, BEFORE the season starts doesn't work out the way Liverpool thought it might. I planned to see them tomorrow in Zürich ,however i've got to miss it ( the game is in Zug not Zürich), I think if Mascherano goes, and possibly Torres, they will be well and truly F*cked....
